4C22 Rustic Autumn Gold Softened - 100% Linen Fabric - Heavy (7.1 oz/yd2), Width 57"
Johannes Vermeer was a master of understatement, crafting exquisite, enigmatic beauty from quiet scenes of domestic life. AUTUMN GOLD linen's warm indulgent tone takes its cue from the golden light that ignites these hushed interiors and makes them shine with the gloss of precious metal. Strategically placed strands of complimentary colors including Delft blue and china white allow yellow tones to resonate and sing out even brighter, transforming ordinary interiors into magical places of silent wonder.
At a heavier weight of 7.1 ounces this 100% linen is referred to as Rustic due to its more textured look and feel. Durable and perfect for projects that require just a bit more substance.
The cloth is Softened so we have added a softener to give it a silkier hand. The fabric has not been laundered so shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration (shrinkage depends on fabric weave and laundering method).

Customer Questions and Answers
Is 4C22 too heavy for a tablecloth? Love the color
It really comes down to personal preference between the medium and heavyweight fabrics for table cloths. Both look stunning and drape nicely.
Would this material be good to make a long skirt for Rev War usage?
This fabric will create a structured skirt with a rustic linen hand. Another option depending on your climate would be the IL019 which is a popular choice.
does the silcone treatment affect the absorbancy of the heavy or medium linen.
No not at all the softener absorbs into the linen and does not impact the absorbancy.
What is the width of 4C22 Rustic Autumn Gold and how many yards on one bolt?
This linen is 57/58 inches wide. Please take a look under specifications to see additional information.
What chemical is used as the softener? Does it stay in the fabric after washing?
It is a silicone softener that is a non toxic/harmful chemical. It absorbs into the linen.
Does this work for throw pillow covers?
Yes, it is one of the more popular choices to use for throw pillow covers.
My winter project is making a slip cover for my couch, chair and ottoman by using the original slip cover for an pattern. Autumn gold was an easy choice. The color is as rich and gorgeous as they come and it's easy to work with. I've finished the ottoman. So far so good. Love all your fabrics.
I am currently making the lily blouse in this surprisingly soft heavy weight fabric. It's been handling nice and i think next time i will not use as much interfacing as the pattern calls for. I'll just use it for the button and buttonhole placements on the collar and cuffs. It prewashed beautifully and ironed out nicely.
Rich, Bright, Color! I purchased to co-ordinate with IL098 Loire Natural/Autumn Gold. I'm noticing that in just about any interior, a splash of Autumn Gold (or any F-S.com Yellows) adds a much-needed Spark of Brightness! This is a Beautiful Yellow Gold. Thank you FS.com!
This is a heavier weight, perfect for the mobius apron I made. It is a beautiful color of darker yellow and still looks great after many washes with hot water and being dried in the dryer on high heat. It comes out of the dryer with no need for an iron. It's also great to embroider on with no need for a stabilizer with hand embroidery. The drape is excellent and lovely to wear. I wore it while working in the kitchen at summer camp and came home with grease spots and chocolate stains- put a little Dawn on it and threw it the wash on hot- came out with no stains!
This fabric is endearing. It's heavy but perfectly suited for a jacket style blouse or a dress. The color is also brilliant, very well dyed.
These are based on a Viking grave find in Hedeby. Unfortunately, i messed up the first set so i had to make this pair, the second. I absolutely love them. You can wrap the legs in winingas or leave them loose like here. I've worn them in temperatures from -5°F to 95°F and been comfortable. Super durable, they move like a light-medium canvas (like a heavy weight karate gi/do-bak).
This was my Amtgard knighting Kirtle. It's based on14th century Heraldic Kirtles. There is alot of symbology to this so I'll list it: Gold for the California Fields 3 Tul stars for family The Bear for California, strength, family, and playfulness My husband's persona initials were embroidered on one tippet, and a leaf from my knight's master crown hood on the other. The dress is 100% linen. I painted the bear with fabric paints and applique it on. The stars and tippets are linen with a layer of white cotton under it. The veil is silk. I'm wearing a cap you cannot see, but it's linen with a cotton lace panel going through the center. My dove grey chemise is linen. Pattern used for this is from Reconstructing History and I had to edit the pattern 5 times. Hours to make: idk. 3 different mock ups, months of a few mins here and there hand hemming my veil, hours of research and asking Linden questions at midnight to have her answer the next day, and then there is the time that wasn't mine by people who designed my original heraldry for me.
F|F AKIRA Pattern Made with AUTUMN GOLD Heavyweight Linen. I chose a heavyweight 100% linen in AUTUMN GOLD Softened for the fabric and fell completely in love. A pet peeve of mine is making linen pants that I adore but that can't stand up the to wear and tear that I need from them. This linen has a slightly rustic feel (in the best way) and a beautiful drape.
