You may have had the pleasure of working with our trickster weave fabrics - the ones that arrive flat and ordinary, but upon first contact with the washer and drier, they shapeshift into something deliciously textured and absolutely unique.

This cloth is 114 inches wide and 7.7 ounces a square yard which qualifies it at the top of the scale of heavyweight fabrics.

Woven with 73% linen to keep us cool and humidity-free and 27% cotton to be fluffier and voluminous.

The fabric arrives flat with subtle patterns that can be seen in the interweaving of the threads. This weaving technique comes with a delightful surprise once it goes through its first wash and dry. It fluffs up everywhere the threads are not interwoven.

To give it the volume the cloth needs to be a textured - the cloth is built to shrink. The styles will pucker differently based on their weave. They will shrink about 8% on the width ( weft going selvage to selvage) of the cloth and about 24% on the length ( warp of the cloth). Shrinkage is based on a warm wash and low-heat dry.

Design created exclusively for F|S - you just pull the fabric out of the drier and feel like a magician.

This wide cloth is perfect for:

  • Robes
  • Curtains
  • Decorative Pillows
  • Jackets
  • Throws
  • Towels
  • Picnic and beach blankets
  • and, of course, Bedspreads

We have not had anyone use this linen for towels so at this time we do not have a visual or recommendation for you, however, based on the construction of this linen it is better suited for throws, bedspreads or other bedding items.

Great for a bedspread

Bought 4 yds. Trimmed selvages, but it probably was not necessary and hemmed both sides. Used decorative stitch about 2 inches from both cut edges and pulled yarns to fringe. Washed in cold water on casual cycle. Dried in dryer on cool setting. Looks great on king size bed.

3 yards was a perfect fit for a full-size bed. I evened the long sides and stay-stitched for a short fringe, turned over the selvages, threw it in the wash and dry, then onto the bed. I love the natural color and plan to make some pillow shams.

Years ago, I bought a 110" long linen throw and am delighted to be able to make something similar with this 114" wide fabric and a doggie bag piece. I put the more densely woven stripes on the outer edges and cut carefully, then used my machine's heavy overedge stitch. It finished the edges and blended in so well that it almost seemed like it was woven that way. Used a wing needle and some decorative stitching to finish the fringed ends. Then, wash and watch the magic happen. If you've never had an extra long throw, you will love the way you can tuck it under or puddle it at your feet, wrap it around your shoulder and down your legs, simply double it over or share that extra length - especially when it is luscious linen. I've bought it in every color to make gifts.

Three yards for a queen bedspread. Folded in half in photo. Top and bottom of blanket are hemmed selvedge edges. Frayed sides secured with a straight stitch and then machine washes. Will finish with a zigzag stitch.

I purchased 4yds for large full size bedspread. It was easy to hem the 2 cut ends twice 2". A quick trip thru the wash and dryer and viola! Nice spread.
