You may have had the pleasure of working with our trickster weave fabrics - the ones that arrive flat and ordinary, but upon first contact with the washer and drier, they shapeshift into something deliciously textured and absolutely unique.

This cloth is 114 inches wide and 7.7 ounces a square yard which qualifies it at the top of the scale of heavyweight fabrics.

Woven with 73% linen to keep us cool and humidity-free and 27% cotton to be fluffier and voluminous.

The fabric arrives flat with subtle patterns that can be seen in the interweaving of the threads. This weaving technique comes with a delightful surprise once it goes through its first wash and dry. It fluffs up everywhere the threads are not interwoven.

To give it the volume the cloth needs to be a textured - the cloth is built to shrink. The styles will pucker differently based on their weave. They will shrink about 8% on the width ( weft going selvage to selvage) of the cloth and about 24% on the length ( warp of the cloth). Shrinkage is based on a warm wash and low-heat dry.

Design created exclusively for F|S - you just pull the fabric out of the drier and feel like a magician.

This wide cloth is perfect for:

  • Robes
  • Curtains
  • Decorative Pillows
  • Jackets
  • Throws
  • Towels
  • Picnic and beach blankets
  • and, of course, Bedspreads

Shrinkage?

I am not sure how some of you have not got the shrinkage. I seem to have overachieved in the shrinkage department. I do love how this fabric washes up.

Not just for bedding

Bought a doggie bag piece of this ultra-wide fabric and made up a pullover top for layering. Trimmed with gouache and pleased with the final product. Next time I'll try a button up jacket with large buttons. Great Fabrics as always.

Bedspread

Love this fabric! Very soft! Made a summer bedspread for hot Florida summers. Very breathable fabric did not get hot sleeping under bedspread.

Great Product

I followed instructions for a Queen size spread but this fabric was wayyyyy too big for my king size bed. I will have to cut it down to use it. It did not shrink as much as I would have liked. However, I did make towels and washcloths with the extra fabric I ordered and still have some left over for a summer jacket. The towel set was for my husbands birhday and they were a hit. Maybe he will let me use them too.

Very happy with this fabric!

I ordered four yards for a queen size blanket - hemmed the edges with a double fold and mitered the corners. I was hesitant of the stiffness when first pulling it out, but it washed up beautifully and made a nice summer alternative to my quilt.

as mentioned in a previous review I seem to have achieved an excessive shrinkage factor. I did a "test" block of this fabric before taking on my King sized bed cover. Pre washed it measured 52.75" (weft) X 41" (warp) and after washing w hot water & drying thoroughly it measured 40" ( (weft) X 28" (Warp). This is more than F/S suggests it might shrink. Perhaps my samples will make nice baby blankets????

This is a photo of the bedspreads and throw using the fabric purchased from your store! I sent it all to my sister – as she has the talent and experience to work with this material. She has an ETSY shop on-line for other things that she creates and sells. I am looking forward to enjoying the bedspreads and the throw. Thank you for your fantastic products!! Eric Wood

I used 4 yards to make a king sized blanket The instructions in the email introducing this new fabric stated that 4 yards would make a queen sized blanket. However the fabric didn't shrink as much as expected and was almost too big for a king bed. I washed in eco warm temperature on permanent press cycle and dried on permanent press cycle, as well. I love the result! It's a great blanket for summer and a nice topper for winter.
