Is this the best choice for using in a quilt along with quilt cottons? I am looking for natural colored linen but so far only saw heavy weight natural colored linen on your site.

You may prefer the lightweight linen which has a tighter weave and has a similar heft to quilting cotton. Natural is available on that base: fabrics-store.com/fabrics/linen-fabric-IL020-natural-light

I'm looking to make a baptism dress for my granddaughter. Is this fabric soft enough for baby skin?

Nadine • May 8, 2024
Lauren profile image F|S Team

This fabric hasn't been pre-softened, so it may be a little stiff before you wash it. If you'd like, you can make it even softer by using our softener, which is designed for linen and cotton fabrics, and is a one time use product which is fragrance free and suitable for babies.

Will this fabric iron smooth without wrinkles? Could it be used for an altar cloth for a church?

Dorthea • January 26, 2024
Lauren profile image F|S Team

Yes, this fabric irons out smooth easily with a hot iron and lots of steam. Better results can be achieved if the fabric is misted with water.

Can this fabric be used for tea towels?

Laura • November 20, 2023
Lauren profile image F|S Team

Our customers generally prefer a thicker fabric for tea towels. Something like our IL84 and 4C22 linen fabrics, or our 100% cotton Kits are ideal.

Hi! Can this be used for sofa slipcovers?

Robin • November 14, 2023
Lauren profile image F|S Team

We recommend mediumweight fabric for slipcovers only if they will be used occasionally or lightly, otherwise our heavyweight fabrics are a better option for this.

Hi, I'm sewing an early medieval underdress, do you think the cotton-linen medium weight fabric would be to heavy or stiff for this? Thanks!

Teresa • May 23, 2023
Lauren profile image F|S Team

Hello, Our cotton/Linen blends are more structured than our 100% cotton and 100% linen fabrics, but they will soften up over time. For a more period specific garment, most of our customers will use the 100% linen fabric IL019. But either will work for this style dress, it just depends on how much drape and softness you would like on the new fabric.

A JOY to work with!

I bought this 1S024 Bleached linen/cotton blend to make my pillow inserts for throw pillows I'm making. This fabric feels so nice and is fun to sew with. I can't wait to buy more!

Good structure, easy to sew

Dyed with procion dye, Timberwolf color. Took the dye very well with a clear right and wrong side. Sewing was a dream except for the button holes. Even with interfacing the feed dogs refused to advance the fabric for the buttonhole stitch. Didn't have trouble on any other areas though, even where seams were very thick.
