IC023 is a 59" wide Plain Weave Faille in 100% Cotton.

Faille has the flattened ribbed pattern of grosgrain and the uninterrupted crispy sheen of the silky-smooth surface of Satin. This combination gives Faille the distinctive hand and appearance it is known for - textured, lustrous, luxurious, and crisp.

This cloth has become the fabric of choice for top interior and fashion designers. You have seen it used for formal dresses and gowns; it is also a popular pick for making skirts, blouses, and summer dresses for ladies and girls. Faille has made its name in home textiles and is used for bedding, decorative pillows, and drapes as well.

This fabric is at the higher end of the lightweight categories and weighs a lavish 4.4 ounces a square yard with its remarkable texture and unforgettable feel.

This Faille fabric can be woven from various fibers, but nature-made fibers are far more pleasant to wear and much easier to work with. That’s why we made this out of 100% cotton.

FS exclusive hand-painted artwork is printed with the best available machinery, using reactive dye ink that gives long-lasting colors and is not harmful to the body, to transfer these paintings onto 100% Cotton fabric.

We also brought three solid colors: white, beige, and black, to accompany your printed cloth.

All designs are created and available exclusively at F|S.com.

The cloth is Softened so we have added a softener to give it a silkier hand. The fabric has not been laundered so shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration (shrinkage depends on fabric weave and laundering method).

are the yardages given in the patterns for washed or unwashed fabric? Colleen

Each pattern will specify if the yardages are including shrinkage of if additional is required. Where it is not listed, assume that 10% extra should be added for shrinkage.

How does this fabric work for a bias cut dress?

Phyllis • July 18, 2024

This fabric works beautifully for a bias cut dress. Keep in mind this fabric has a vertical (grain wise) running rib like texture, so along with the print, this should be taken into consideration for bias cut garments.

Hello, Considering making a Calking Duvet cover with IC023 Faille Jacobean Jewelry Red. Was thinking on doing both sides the same, but do you have a linen color recommendation for the back side? I have a black wooden bed and plan on making matching king pillow shams, then pairing with white bedding, perhaps with blue+navy trim/accents. thanks!

You could try our IL019 Crimson for a lovely red compliment for the back, or you could match it with Deep Ultramarine to compliment the blues in this fabric. Both are on our IL019 medium weight base.

Orange

I agree with previous reviewer. I hate these new printed fabrics that have a white back they just aren't pretty and sometime the white threads pull through to the front. I was willing to relent but the fabric is red/orange. Not red. Hard to tell from the pictures, but not what I needed.

Hello Eleanor , Printed fabric has a design applied to its surface, Unlike dyed fabrics, where color is infused into the fibers, printing applies colors on top of the fabric. We use the best on the market digital printing with reactive dye materials which have deeper penetration to the yarn and remain on the surface of fabrics for many years. The colors are vibrant, do not run or fade after washing. All fabrics are certified and tested by independent laboratories. 100 % Cotton fabric with reactive dye print is good for people and nature.

I was dismayed to see this expensive fabric was printed. This means the back side is white. Period. When your skirt blows to reveal the underside - it's just white. If you quilt it, the threads will pull or run, revealing a white streak on your beautifully patterned surface. I am well familiar with other sewists' complaints about printed fabric, which is becoming all the rage so manufacturers can cut costs of using dyes, and make more profits, at the expense of quality. To date, I have steered well clear of it, and avoided it in shops. I have gone back to look at the descriptions, and cannot see any reference go this printed manufacture. To say I'm disappointed is to minimize this breach of my trust. For the price I expected better quality. I expected better quality from Fabric-Store.
