At a medium weight of 5.3 ounces this 58 inch wide 100% linen is versatile enough to be referred to as an All Purpose or Do it All linen. With its smooth look and tighter weave, this linen is neither sheer or heavy, but just the right in-between weight you will need for a variety of projects.

Our FS Signature Finish was developed exclusively for us using a special process that makes this linen super soft with a comfy, classic look you'll love at first sight.

As a bonus, this process removes almost all of the initial shrinkage, giving you more fabric to get your projects done.
This finish makes the linen as soft as butter. Yep, 100% linen that feels and drapes and sews as no linen you have ever encountered. Because the fabric has been pre-shrunk for you - it will be less than the base cloth width.

A good blue and so soft.

I am really enjoying the color of Royal Blue for my project, the Nina Lee Bakerloo dress, the drape is lovely and after only one washing the fabric has a favorite garment feel, soft to the touch. The color is perhaps a bit lighter than the photo but is a very Royal blue.

A favorite

This color and weight is a favorite for making making tunics for historical reenactment. It is heavy enough to withstand the wear, but light and breathable enough to be worn in Texas heat.

Royal blue linen

I called the phone # and the customer service very helpful and pleasant. I chose to get samples to get the correct color. Very good option to be able to get the right weight of fabric and color. Samples and eventually chosen fabric beautiful and very fast turnaround. This company very helpful, and easy to work with.

Grace profile image My favorite royal

I love this blue! The rich royal blue is my favorite shade of my favorite color, and this weight is perfect for everything from Viking serks to côtes, lined côtehardies and their undergowns, and 18th century shortgowns and petticoats. The smoothly-woven linen has just the right amount of texture and body to look fantastic and stand up well to extended use. I go through so much of it, it's probably my signature color!

Susi profile image Renaissance Kirtle

This is a GORGEOUS color and weight of linen! This is my only purchase for my upcoming Renaissance Festival costume (the rest is thankfully from my stash!) We're going with more historically accurate boned kirtles rather than corsets, the front of which will be the underskirt showing in front. This will be nice and cool. Of course, I will also have a red linen petticoat underneath. Pics when I finish, I promise. LOVE this linen!

Beautiful accent color

When ordering fabric online I always have the most difficulty with the color. This blue is bright like I had expected, but still has a more natural blue look. It is less green/yellow than how it looks on my monitor, and more of a true royal blue. It is bright enough to be ideal as an accent, and will make a very bold piece for any larger projects.

Love this fabric & Royal Blue color!

With the sewing and fitting assistance of my seamstress sister, I now have a beautiful custom made royal blue, empire waist apron-front dress. I wore it first in a historical production and have since worn it at 2 other events. I LOVE this fabric and the bright color. I did a pre-wash & dry (after hemming the raw edges) and ironed it before cutting out the pattern pieces. My sister said it was easy to sew, and the finished costume is comfortable to wear and I can dress myself; no buttons in the back or corset needed.

Lovely

Great color & weight. I have yet to wash it but anticipate little bleeding - will perhaps add a dollop of salt as a mordant.

Our daughter's Wedding

I ordered this exact color & made my dress & jacket to wear for our daughter's wedding. It was as she described, "perfect color". She had requested that I wear her favorite color so I did. I LOVE this dress & wear it to church quite a lot. Your Linen is just the best around. I have made purchases of the IL19 at least five times. It wears like iron. I had a IL19 dress in raspberry that I literally wore for over 20 years. Simple but classic sheath & it just got softer & softer until it went from IL19 to nothing....so I made another one in Royal. Thanks for a wonderful product & an amazing store.

Beautiful Color, Great Texture

I first discovered Fabrics Store's linen when making garb for the SCA (a medieval recreation society). Since then, it's become one of my favorite fabrics to work with. The colors are rich and beautiful, and the fabric has a fantastic "hand" and is very easy to sew with. I purchased the royal blue during a recent sale with plans for several projects. So far, I've made a ring sling baby carrier, but I'm also working on a summer maternity dress and will be making more SCA garb as well. My one warning would be, make sure to thoroughly pre-wash the fabric before using it. Of all the colors I've used so far, the royal blue had the most excess dye wash out. The color is still rich and additional dye loss has not been an issue since pre-washing.

I love this tunic and all the linen from this company.

This mid weight is perfect for this smaller shoulder bag. The color is bright, but still has some earthy undertones. It's a great accent color to a simple outfit. It was also perfect for the small embroidery at the top. I lined the bag with a light cotton fabric.

This was made for a friend who has traveled to several countries. I love combining different colors. This linen is stable for embroidery work and the colors are rich.

After embroidering the fabric, I covered 2 chairs with it, but I loved the color so much I took it to a local paint store and let them scan it in and mix the exact color to paint the wall with. Beautiful beautiful blue. Even my husband loved it.

This is a picture of my costume for a historical production of "9 Extraordinary Women of the American Revolution", which my sister helped me fit and finish. I received lots of compliments on the color as well as the complete look with the matching bonnet. I played Deborah Sam(p)son at age 60 as I told the audience about the highlights of "my" life before, during and after the Revolutionary War in a six minute monologue.

Appliquac on the back of a jacket made entirely of Linen. Two years of heavy wearing, it's still holding up great!
