Pioneering American artist Georgia O’Keeffe made a significant and long-lasting contribution to the history of art, with a daring new language of spare, stark simplicity that foreshadowed minimalist abstraction. Her mid-20th century art was an ode to nature and the wide-open space of the American outback, with its pale, bleached colors, huge skies and undulating horizon lines.

Soft, sandy shades of grey like PEYOTE featured in much of O’Keeffe’s art, sometimes in her early flower paintings, but most predominantly in her barren depictions of the New Mexico desert, where dusty horizons and low-lying, sun-baked hills seem to ripple and fold like creases of fabric.

At a medium weight of 5.3 ounces this 58 inch wide 100% linen is versatile enough to be referred to as an All Purpose or Do it All linen. With its smooth look and tighter weave, this linen is neither sheer or heavy, but just the right in-between weight you will need for a variety of projects.

The cloth is Softened so we have added a softener to give it a silkier hand. The fabric has not been laundered so shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration (shrinkage depends on fabric weave and laundering method).

We do not have plans to bring this color in the 4C22 but we will have some new colors coming in over the next few months one of which may be a close match for this one.

Does this come in white and ivory and light beige? Can you send samples of fabric before an order?

Nice color

Peyote is a light, grayed sand-beige color. Maybe you could call it khaki. There is absolutely no pink undertone in it. It is fairly neutral and goes with a number of other colors, such as red, pink, purple, orange, and some shades of blue and green. I bought it in the 5.3 oz. weight and made casual summer pants. They turned out very nice.

Uncharacteristically inaccurate photo

The cloth is excellent, as IL019 always is, and the color is a pale neutral color that is really difficult to describe. Something like a very pale taupe, somewhere between beige and light grey, but much closer to the beige side of that continuum. The color as pictured on the website is highly inaccurate and really should be re-taken. Of course computer and phone screens will vary in their resolution and display quality, but have purchased MANY colors from this store, and I have never encountered such a dramatic discrepancy. The photo online very clearly makes it look like a shade of grey, and I will certainly find a use it for it, but the repsonse from customer service was disappointing, who were none too concerned about my experience, especially considering how much I shop with them.
