A decorative interpretation of the Arboreal motif made up of entwined foliage, flowers, acorns, and berries in the Natural - White color way.

The engineering of this cloth allows the Jacquard to be read equally well from either side - you have a reversible fabric that changes its dominant color scheme depending on what side you pick.

Lying in a haphazard pile at a Parisian flea market was all that remained of a glorious collection of textiles that once graced the halls and environs of Loire castle.
The remnant was pulled from that pile and brought to our studio where we were able to translate the complexity of design and texture to the Jacquard loom, and the 100% linen Loire Collection was created exclusively for F|S.com.

The different weaving techniques utilized to create this fabric make it 3-dimensional - you have a textured cloth that communicates the motif visually and tactilely.

The intricacy of the design permits the cloth to be used in any direction, with the motif maintaining its representation regardless of the angle.
This cloth is 61 inches wide, delicate to the touch, and a heavy weight to last generations.

Our FS Signature Finish was developed exclusively for us using a special process that makes this linen super soft with a comfy, classic look you'll love at first sight.

As a bonus, this process removes almost all of the initial shrinkage, giving you more fabric to get your projects done.
This finish makes the linen as soft as butter. Yep, 100% linen that feels and drapes and sews as no linen you have ever encountered. Because the fabric has been pre-shrunk for you - it will be less than the base cloth width.

In the note explaining FS signature finish it states fabric is less than the base cloth width..... Does that mean the fabric I order will be less than 61 inches? If this is so how wide is the fabric. I'm hoping to make a tablecloth so I need to allow for drop.

Ellen • October 20, 2024

The fabric you receive will be the width stated on the page.

How much will this shrink with washing and drying? I need enough width to make a tablecloth for a 54" wide table.

Ann • June 24, 2024
Lauren profile image F|S Team

This fabric has approx. 5% shrinkage on the width and length when washing on a warm gentle cycle and drying on low.

Should I still wash my Loire fabric prior to sewing? I am making cafe curtains for my laundry room.

Yes, we recommend pre-washing fabrics prior to sewing, especially if you plan on washing or steaming your fabrics at a later time.

pillow cases

This fabric is blowing! I choose to have custom pillow cases made. The fabric was washed and air dried before fabrication. I does fray easily . french seams works perfect. The print and weight of the fabric takes my bedding to a new level. Very elegant. I now want matching pajamas made.

Gorgeous fabric

I made 2 pillow covers for my sofa, piped in ivory. They turned out beautifully. This is a lovely fabric for either apparel or home decor.

I really like this fabric

I purchased this from the doggy bag section and made two pillow covers piped with natural IL19. The fabric washed well and was extremely soft and malleable post-wash. It sewed up easily but is quite loosely woven. I have not yet figured out how to join piping ends invisibly but am working on it.

Amazing!

This is such a lovely fabric! The fabric has a very soft hand, drapes well, and is very luxurious. The detail in the floral and fruit pattern is really amazing! I washed (hot) and dried on my regular perma-press cycle and it came out beautifully! Hardly any wrinkles. I had purchased 4 different colors of the Loire so I dried two completely, dried one minimally and then smoothed the damp fabric out on my bed to dry (my very favorite way to handle any linen), and dried one minimally and then finished with an iron set on the hottest temp. All came out really nice. My fav was the one spread on my bed (least amount of work but with a nice result) but the two that got dried all the way came out of the dryer with hardly a wrinkle...I didn't even bother to iron them. Even the selvages were smooth! The one that I did iron while damp was a joy to iron...so beautiful. And then you flip it over and the delight of this fabric begins all over again! One word of caution: if raveling fabric bothers you then you had better serge/zigzag the cut edges before wash/dry. When I took mine out of the dryer it was a tangled mess. That said, it really doesn't bother me and not that much thread came loose...less than 1/8 inch. You knocked this one out of the park, FS!

This jacquard fabric made up beautifully as a table cloth. It's not easy to find one as long as a need for my table. If I wanted more width, I could have added a border.

Fabrics from Doggie Bag selections using Loire Natural IL098 and Natural IL090. Modified several patterns. Love how this soft signature finish used in zip up collar and sleeves are soft against the skin and can be fully zipped and/or rolled for a breeze. Dropped shoulders will be great for layerings.

This fabric makes a great accent for matching with other linens! This pullover is available made-to-measure on my website, charliedarwintextiles.com

As always, Fabrics-Store's printed patterns are such a treat to receive and open in the mail. I love popping open the top of the cylindrical tube to then pulling out the neatly rolled pattern and instruction booklet. I'm #teamtrace all the way when it comes to paper patterns so while it is a bit of an extra step for me in the sewing process, the differently colored sizes make quick work of the job as it's easy to identify exactly which size I'm tracing off. The pattern for the robe itself came in at only 9 pattern pieces, or 8 if you're like me and chose to use premade seam binding versus making the bias binding from scratch. If you don't have an almost 1.5 year old baby that demands to be held or followed around the house during all waking hours, then cutting out and sewing up this lovely robe takes up not much time and comes together quite smoothly thanks to the clear instructions and diagrams.
