The narrow ticking stripe running through this warm rich brown adds a whole new level of sophistication to this color. Although a darker shade it does not overwhelm the stripe in any way.

Yarn Dyed 100% linens are made using linen threads that are dyed separately before being woven. This allows for a large variety of patterns and designs that stand out from the base fabric color.

Weighty fabric, subtle stripe

I love this fabric. More substantial than I expected. Presses nicely but doesn't hold the press like some other linens, it reverts to its charming rumple quickly. Slightly rustic weave with variation in the single thread stripe, but has a relatively smooth surface. The color is a warm black/charcoal. Lovely to work with.

Exactly What I Wanted

This fabric is dark grayish brown . It goes well with my grays, browns, and also with some colors. The white stripes are only one thread wide and those white threads vary a bit in thickness, which keeps the overall look from being too formal. It seems smoother than FS's basic linen. The width was 62.5" both before and after washing in hot water. The length shrunk about 5.5%. I used this fabric to make a long skirt. It was easy and pleasurable to sew. I am quite happy with the results. . I noticed a slightly lighter (faded) line where the fabric had been folded in the wash. I've had a scrap hanging out on the clothesline for about 4 weeks, just to see what would happen. It faded to a slightly warmer brown. There was one very large, thick white slub which I was able to remove and I wove in some white replacement thread from a leftover scrap. These minor "defects" were not problems for me, but I imagine that they could be be problems for some customers - therefore the 4, rather than 5 stars.

Shirt dress in warm black stripes. The pattern is a combination of the Liesl and Co classic shirt and the closet case patterns Kalle Shirt dress, with extra style lines to play with the stripes. More details and pics on my blog, unlikelynest.com

1895 or so, linen Ladies walking suit. With drawstring reticule (handbag), and matching ribbon roses on the hat. I wore this to the Heritage Days celebration in Durango, CO, October 2016.
