At 5.1 ounces this Open Weave 57 inch wide linen has a unique slightly sheer look and feel that sets it apart from other medium weight linens. Open weave does not make it less durable or versatile, just loosely woven.

This linen should be laundered in a cold wash-tumble dried on air setting or very low heat--line dry if possible.

The Premier Finish undergoes a two-step process to give the cloth a luxurious, supple feel right out of the box.

First, we apply a softener to give the fabric a silkier surface. Then, strong blasts of air are blown into the woven cloth. This beats up the fibers to make them softer and mimics the fiber bending process that the fabric undergoes when you've used it a lot.

This finishing process gives the fabric a much softer and more luxurious hand. It will be less prone to deep creases and have less linting. Shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration based on the fabric type ( thread size, count, weave type).

Love it!

The open weave is not only good for fringe, it's great for hem stitching.

Beautiful scarf/wrap

I made the scarves according to the directions provided then washed them in warm water, a short time in the dryer, on low, then hung to finish drying. Loved the way they turned out! They were an easy sew. I can't wait for cooler weather. It's still in the 90's here in FL.

I want more!

I was curious about how open the weave would be, so I plunged and bought enough to make 4 scarf/shawls. The weave is almost like cheesecloth, and the fabric was very easy to straighten, pull a thread, hem, and fringe. They were so easy to do! I saved the threads I pulled for fringe to use for hand sewing. The hand of the fabric is wonderful right out of the packaging, and they could be used without washing. It would make wonderful curtains. I will scour them so I can dye them and will be interested to see how the fabric softens (I anticipate a very soft fabric). I would happily have many more yards of this fabric to work with. I plan to Shibori dye some as gifts for friends and I to print with iron on at least one. I really need more!!! Recommend this fabric with enthusiasm.

Love this

There are so many conflicting reviews about 1L041 fabrics, I just had to try a bit from the doggie bag. So I bought 1/2 yard and made a little fringed scarf. I love the open weave and the soft drape of this fabric! I straightened the cut edges with an OCD eye and made an a narrow him ( yes I counted five rows of threads and turned under twice. ). Then trimmed the selvages and fringed and knotted 3 inches. I then washed on delicate with cold water. Tumbled slightly and hung to dry. I really didn't want to wash it as I loved it straight out of the box. But with the gentle wash and a quick press, it was still lovely. I do want a longer one or shawl now. It would also make a wonderful drape over a bed or semi sheer curtains.

She cried when she received this gift!

Needed a quick gift for my daughter's future MIL and remembered the fringed scarf tutorial. Worked this up quickly and was delighted by the result. She was so touched she cried. This lush linen gift made me and my daughter heroes!

Love my little scarf.

The Open weave linen was a perfect choice for my curtains, and so easy to sew with! Just cut the length, and sew 3 quick hems and fold and sew the top over to fit my curtain rod. They filter the light so nicely too!

I have used this wonderful weight and weave for many items, including a fringed shawl, using the instructions from Fabric-store. I made the shawl (folded lengthwise it makes a scarf), then washed it multiple times to achieve a wonderful drape and softness. This photo shows the lovely cornflower blue that black bean soaking water rendered.
