IL041 Open Weave Mist Fs Premier Finish - 100% Linen Fabric - Medium (5.01 oz/yd2) - 20.00 Yards, Width 57"
Pierre Bonnard’s intimiste paintings invite us into his own private world, a magical place where color and light roam free. Though he is perhaps best celebrated for his scorching color palette that heightened reality into a kaleidoscopic dream, he also brought in bright, cool shades like that of MIST Linen, letting them breeze through his canvases with the fresh airiness of an open window.
These pale, cold colors became a kind of stage set for Bonnard, capturing the bracing light of France where his spirited life stories would unfold.
At 5.1 ounces this Open Weave 57 inch wide linen has a unique slightly sheer look and feel that sets it apart from other medium weight linens. Open weave does not make it less durable or versatile, just loosely woven.
This linen should be laundered in a cold wash-tumble dried on air setting or very low heat--line dry if possible.
The Premier Finish undergoes a two-step process to give the cloth a luxurious, supple feel right out of the box.
First, we apply a softener to give the fabric a silkier surface. Then, strong blasts of air are blown into the woven cloth. This beats up the fibers to make them softer and mimics the fiber bending process that the fabric undergoes when you've used it a lot.
This finishing process gives the fabric a much softer and more luxurious hand. It will be less prone to deep creases and have less linting. Shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration based on the fabric type ( thread size, count, weave type).

Customer Questions and Answers
Can I bleach this fabric white?
Bleaching at home can be tricky since getting an even and optically white looking fabric takes some work and specific chemicals. For this reason, we do't usually recommend home bleaching.
The Mist color caught my attention bc same color as Mist waffle weave. Would it work as bias binding on waffle-weave Mist towels? Concerned with compatibility when washing/drying as towels will be dried in dryer med. heat with dryer balls. Would it be too rough or too contrasting (texture or color) to go with waffle-weave towels? Of course I can always do turn up hems on towels. Thanks again.
Hello, Yes, the mist colors match nicely and work well together. We recommend a low heat dry for all of our fabrics to prolong thier life and prevent over drying.
I'd love more information on the new Finish and Softener that are being promoted in your linen fabrics. I want to avoid PFAS (polyfluoroalkyl substances) and other unhealthful chemicals used in textiles. I'm also fond of the way linen rumples and wrinkles so I hope your company does not treat all of its linen with these fabric softeners.
We have listed all of the information here for our exclusive eco-friendly softener fabrics-store.com/more/eco-friendly-fabric-softener-volume-3.5-oz-scent-unscented Any and all finishes meet all criteria for the Oeko-Tex standard 100 which we are certified for.
I Love this fabric, but the weave wasn't quite right for the project I had in mind. (I will definitely be using it on another project though!) so what I wanted to ask, which grey shade in IL019 is the closest to Mist? I don't mind if it is a little darker, but I want to keep with a more cool grey.
You might want to consider the IL019 Silver, Light Grey or Grey Cashmere
Are people still having issues with the red open weave? I have the red and the fog colors, and I must say, I'm extremely happy about both pieces.I made scrarves out of the fabric, fringing the ends. I have washed them both about four times. I use laundry balls when drying my clothes. They are so soft now. I love the weight and the softness of them. I think people just have to be patient and give this fabric a chance to do what it's supposed to do. Simply lonely!
We're so happy you're having the best time with your open weave fabrics. To some people they find the linen rough, but the fabric is new and just waiting to be used and washed and dried to help it soften up. That is the beauty of natural fibers, especially linen. Our Softener is designed to speed up that process, and yes, using dryer balls can also help it along!
Are you discontinuing the open weave? It is my absolute favorite for hot, humid southern summers (see photos of tops in comments for unfairly maligned oatmeal open weave). Mist is the softest and perfect for scarves, but I have also made hemstitched and cutwork scarves and runners from the other open weave colors. Please don't discontinue it! Add more colors!!
We do have plans to bring this item back in, but the ETA and color selection is not available just yet. Please check back with us after August to see if we have received additional updates. Thank you for taking the time to let us know what you would like to see added or brought back into our fabric offerings.
This fabric is absolutely gorgeous, both in the look and the feel! I've been looking at it for a long time and finally decided to buy some. Wow! Please, FS, try to get it in bleached and more colors!
It seems that Fabrics-Store might be limiting or discontinuing the open weave fabrics. I HOPE NOT! Personally I have made the most enjoyable and frequently worn items in my wardrobe, simple popover dolman sleeve tops, out of most of the colors of IL041 that F-S has ever offered. They wear and wash beautifully and last and last. Life savers in hot climates. I strongly recommend people try it. The Open Weave makes beautiful casement draperies as well.
Whether you work in an airconditioned office, work outside, or live in colder climates, this loose weave makes a great insulating layer. I started out by making one of the shawls as suggested by many others, but decided to try it for a bed jacket, last winter. Every time it is washed, it is softer, and the loose weave, helps to trap body warmth. I'm considering making one the size of a bundling wrap for a baby gift. It does shrink, so figuring out how to size it is all that has prevented that. Instead of fringing, I will try a rolled hem. I'd also recommend making a shawl and in addition using it to wear, use at home, if your chair is in a drafty area,
The weave is a little looser than I expected but so soft and drapey. I made the moss jacket from Helen's closet and I love it.
I LOVE this fabric to make the most incredible washcloths I have ever seen or used! I do not prewash it, I cut right into this fabric and then hem up the edges so that there are no raw edges showing. Then I pop in the washer and dryer so that it can shrink up a bit before actually using. The trick with this fabric, I have learned...is to cut your washcloths a LOT larger than you think you need because this will shrink up quite a bit. I cut some originally at 12", thinking this would be adequate, but they shrunk up so much that they are barely usable. Then I cut at 14", but are still a bit on the smallish side for me. Now I cut another two yards at 18" and I think these will be perfect as I do not like a skimpy washcloth. This fabric is incredible to wash your face and body with! I use twice a day, in the shower and then at night to wash my face with my favorite facial cleanser. My skin looks and feels incredible, especially afterwards when I apply a very light film of rosehip oil. Give this fabric a try...you will be so amazed at the wonderful washcloths you make...and they wear forever! I am still using the ones I made several years ago and they have no wear on them at all, still look just like they did when I sewed them!! So happy with this fabric!!
