Kathleen profile image Stiff Cheescloth?

What is this item used for? It's completely unsuitable for a dress. Scratchy, loose stiff weave. Now I have to pay shipping to return it! Not Ok, I thought all your linens were for clothing, this is like painters canvas. Not a good description at all!

Kim profile image Awful!

This is like needlepoint fabric. Totally not what I thought I was ordering.

Yikes

Super stiff, like the stuff you use for needlepoint. I'll need to do some research on whether this stuff'll be usable after some serious washing . . .

Great ideas and tips below.

I didn't know what this fabric was when I opened the package that came today from the fabric store. All of the other fabrics I ordered were just beautiful. This! I didn't have any idea what I was ordering. Definitely not making cloths out of this, but the curtain idea is a good one. I will also save some for washing till fluffy idea. I'm pleased with my order though. Prompt and beautiful fabric.

Perfect for sheer drapery

I made sheer draperies with this - it's the perfect weight and texture. Wanted to keep the sunlight while giving some privacy in the living & dining room. As soon as I hung the first pair I knew this fabric was the right choice. Perfect combination of open/airy feel, allowing in sunlight while giving a privacy screen. Has a good drape, so I didn't wash it...but I will before making bedroom sheers (I wash those occasionally to reduce allergens).

Don't know what to do with this

Karen's review is not kidding -- this arrives looking like aida cloth, very stiff, and the subsequent washes and drying produce an astounding amount of fluff. I don't even know what I'm going to do with this. I had meant to order the handkerchief linen. I was hoping it would become something usable after washing, but it looks like bandages or diapers to me. I'm at a loss. I like the other linen I've ordered from here, but I don't like this. :(

Very surprised

When I received this order, I really thought that I had made a mistake. It seemed more like stiff fabric for cross stitch. But I zigzagged the edges and washed it a few times and now it is this lovely gauzy fluff that will be perfect to back a linen coverlet. Word of warning - I think I have ordered almost every weight of linen here and nothing has ever shed like this. Granted, I kinda beat it up with hot water and super wash, but after 3 cycles, still was filled with fuzz. And watch the dryer lint or you will blow up the machine! I kept emptying it every 10 minutes. Also, it shrank from 72 to 60 inches in length and 6 inches in width, but I love the end result.

This somehow made the image square, so out of proportion a bit. I made this from the other color same fabric. Yes, I did wash and dry fabric once and it did shrink considerably but the fabric is a nice open weave and fairly soft at this point.

No idea what I'll be able to do with this . . .
