Cold, luminescent shades of silvery grey like PERFECTLY PALE ripple through British painter Paul Nash’s surrealist art, creating the ethereal atmosphere of a dream.  He created a series of mystical, imaginary places where curious and uncanny stories unfold, painted in his trademark palette of pale, airy colors. Looking back in his later years, he said, “Imaginatively in a pictorial sense I was airborne.

At a lighter weight of 3.5 ounces this 58 inch wide 100% linen is woven with finer threads to give it a smoother appearance. Referred to as lightweight or handkerchief linen, this fine, but surprisingly sturdy linen brings new meaning to the term "sheer elegance".

The cloth is Softened so we have added a softener to give it a silkier hand. The fabric has not been laundered so shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration (shrinkage depends on fabric weave and laundering method).

Lovely to sew

Bought as a Doggie Bag so yardage was limited, this is beautiful fabric, lovely drape, light and breezy for summer. Made with pattern "Maia", cut on straight of grain in one size bigger and it used all I had. I want to use this for an embroidered nightgown.

A Perfectly Pale Hana top!

I am approaching 80 and am always searching for becoming clothes that are modest yet shapely for my very casual mountain lifestyle with frequent forays into the big city. I selected Perfectly Pale because it matches my hair! And it goes with everything! I love this lightweight handkerchief linen for executing all of the details in the Hana top. It is a challenging sewing project but so worth it! The top is interesting in its detail and so light and airy for warm weather.

I made this Christening gown for my newest granddaughter using 2 yards, with some left over. It was beautiful to work with! I used Coats&Clark poly thread color 256, with Sulky white 60 wt bobbin thread and a 120/19 wing needle for the picot topstitch. The pattern was a very old 25 cent Simplicity 2342 pattern with no instructions. Planning to add minimal embroidery at the bodice using DMC #453 and #3865.
