IL019 All-purpose Zenith Softened - 100% Linen Fabric - Medium (5.3 oz/yd2) - 20.00 Yards, Width 58"
The warm yellow hue of Zenith linen recalls the radiant, sun-baked wheat fields of Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh, where golden sunlight shimmers across the canvas and burns a hole in the sky.
Yellow was a color of great personal
significance to van Gogh, particularly towards the end of his life, when
he flooded his canvases with the rich Mediterranean light of the French
Arles countryside he came to call home. Artist Paul Gauguin later
reflected on the work of his close friend, writing, "Oh yes, he
loved yellow, this good Vincent, this painter from Holland – those
glimmers of sunlight rekindled his soul, that abhorred the fog, that
needed the warmth."
At a medium weight of 5.3 ounces this 58 inch wide 100% linen is versatile enough to be referred to as an All Purpose or Do it All linen. With its smooth look and tighter weave, this linen is neither sheer or heavy, but just the right in-between weight you will need for a variety of projects.
The cloth is Softened so we have added a softener to give it a silkier hand. The fabric has not been laundered so shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration (shrinkage depends on fabric weave and laundering method).

Beautiful fabric! But the alerts to the blue green hue are accurate. I was looking for a more citrus yellow- Now I have a wonderful challenge- creating clothes with this regal zenith yellow. I plan to add panels of black linen to help save the day!
I originally wanted to use Marigold, but it sold out. I think Zenith was an excellent substitute. It's more blue/cooler tone than marigolds red/warm tone.
I ordered the heavyweight of this color last year and then the middle this year- the color is electric with a slight green undertone. Looks great with greens and blues.
I'm a sucker for the wonderful narratives that Fabric-store uses to market their colors of linen. The one that sold me on Zenith was the connection to Van Gogh's sunflowers, but perhaps color is relative because this yellow didn't feel like the more golden color of VG's paintings. It's more pale and blue. To be fair, VG did a lot of sunflowers but Zenith doesn't match my image of his yellow. I'd have returned this but return shipping is too much relative to the cost of the fabric, which is as always, a good price.
This was a db purchase I recently received. It might be called yikes yellow by some, because it is close to the color of a fresh lemon... but two yards of it will be made into a linen tank, and the remaining yard will be perfect for patches in visual mending at my cottoneyedjo etsy shop! I hope this color returns because I love it!
