American painter Roland Petersen makes paintings that are streaked with angular slabs of sunlight, slotted together with the appealing playfulness of a tangram puzzle. A leading member of the Bay Area Figurative School in 1960s San Francisco, Petersen was one of a generation who rejected Abstract Expressionism for a return to figuration, combining all the messy glory of paint with the depiction of real people and places. The references to the real world in Petersen’s paintings came from San Francisco, with its sun-streaked, landscape of pale, iridescent colors like the soft green of WEEPING WILLOW.

At a medium weight of 5.3 ounces this 58 inch wide 100% linen is versatile enough to be referred to as an All Purpose or Do it All linen. With its smooth look and tighter weave, this linen is neither sheer or heavy, but just the right in-between weight you will need for a variety of projects.

The cloth is Softened so we have added a softener to give it a silkier hand. The fabric has not been laundered so shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration (shrinkage depends on fabric weave and laundering method).

Cool and breezy and a snap to sew

I just made an Augustina top (free pattern from this site) out of a yard of "Weeping Willow" as a test. I love this linen - buttery hand and it came out of the washer and dryer virtually unwrinkled! I can't wait to make more items out of this linen.

Rich Willow Green

This green would make a great shell for the right complexions, or fabulous slacks for anyone! I have other plans for it, but I give this color a big thumbs UP!

I am so in love with this color that I now have a wrap dress and a pair of summer pants in it. I can pair these simple pull-on pants with robin's egg blue, F-S Wisteria, or a printed cotton top where that wasabi green is repeated somewhere. I used New Look 6292 with modifications that you can read about by going to my review on sewing.patternreview dot com - my handle there is Kikipotamus. The top pictured is my very first Phoebe Tank in a linen-look because I wasn't yet confident enough to cut into linen that summer (many years ago).

I used this fabric to make the Julia top, and it worked up beautifully! (The color is a bit washed out in this photo; it's brighter than shown here.) Pattern: fabrics-store.com/sewing-patterns/julia-linen-wrap-tops-and-tiered-skirts

This is an absolutely delicious tint of yellow green reminding me of wasabi and of absinthe after the water is added (it goes from chartreuse to milky at that point). The pattern used here is the free downloadable Noor Wrap Dress, which is SO comfortable, flattering on many figures, and brings in the compliments like crazy. Women with strawberry blond hair will look FAB in this color.
