The damp, earthy green of DUSTY LOTUS Linen brought shadowy depths into John Constable's windswept landscapes, lending them the fresh coolness of the British countryside.
Glowering, tempestuous skies hang over his brooding scenes, while the land below ripples in and out of the light, shifting from sunlit leaves to moody, cold shadows. Shifting patterns of light across land and sky fascinated him for his entire career, as he observed, “… let the form of an object be what it may – light, shade and perspective will always make it beautiful.”
At a medium weight of 5.3 ounces this 58 inch wide 100% linen is versatile enough to be referred to as an All Purpose or Do it All linen. With its smooth look and tighter weave, this linen is neither sheer or heavy, but just the right in-between weight you will need for a variety of projects.
Our FS Signature Finish was developed exclusively for us using a special process that makes this linen super soft with a comfy, classic look you'll love at first sight.
As a bonus, this process removes almost all of the initial shrinkage, giving you more fabric to get your projects done.
This finish makes the linen as soft as butter. Yep, 100% linen that feels and drapes and sews as no linen you have ever encountered. Because the fabric has been pre-shrunk for you - it will be less than the base cloth width.

Is the color slightly darker in person than the Softened version of Dusty Lotus?

The colors are the same in person for both finishes. Any variation in color would be due to different dye lots, rather than the finish.
In two of the photos of completed projects the color appears more olive, and in the other two it has a little more blue. Can you tell me which is the more accurate color?

The photos where the fabric appears more green is accurate representation of the fabric in natural light.

I love this fabric. The color was spot on and I'm looking forward to a new pair of pants sewn up in this wonderful weight. I was worried it might be too heavy for my project as it has an elastic waist but this is thin enough without being too thin or see through.

I had been waiting for Dusty Lotus to come back around on sale. I didn't catch it before - & after I had decided that it was a great color for me. I'm not sure yet what I'll make with it, but the color is exactly as shown & it will be perfect for any one of the patterns I have already purchased. As always, it feels lovely & will be a wonderful addition to my wardrobe.
The Fabric Store Sol pattern is beautiful, including pants, a "cardigan," and a tunic. I was immediately drawn to the sophisticated collar and cuffs on the tunic and cardigan. I chose a signature finish, medium-weight linen in Dusty Lotus. This moody grey/green will integrate well into my wardrobe.

I used this fabric to make a quilted jacket. It quilted up beautifully. I quilted it directly to cotton batting with no backing fabric. I quilted out rough pattern-piece sized blocks and I pre-shrank the quilted blocks before I cut out the pattern pieces. Everything shriveled up and it gave wonderful wrinkled texture. The rayon lining hides the batting on the inside. This fabric is very easy to work with and the jacket has a rustic, cozy vibe. Pattern is the Kelly Anorak by Closet Core Patterns. threads_of_sanity

I love love this color! So many compliments! I used the Augustina top pattern and made some adjustments for sleeveless and cropped a little shorter with side slits. The "culottes" are S8389...my go to summer pants in this humid SC weather.

FABRIC CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Please note that some of our darker or more vibrant shades will have some residual dye run off or bleeding. It is important that you launder or treat like colors with like colors so that you do not compromise the integrity of any other colors, fabrics or garments during the launder process.
We also suggest that if you are combining one or more of these types of colors with lighter colors that you pre-wash the linens seperately and once the item is completed do not launder again, but Dry Clean.
