Claude Monet was entranced by the polished sheen of water, observing
with fascination how it could reflect sky and land on its glossy,
undulating surface. The subtle metallic shade of HEATHER Linen
allowed him to capture the cool freshness of this rippling water, with
patches of lilac-tinged sky and cloud scattered across its constantly
shifting surface.
A leader in the French Impressionist school, Monet was
driven wild by his obsession with the impossibility of capturing the
movement and light of water on a painted surface, writing in his
journal, "Once more I have undertaken things which are impossible to do;
water with grasses waving in depths… It's wonderful to see but it
drives you mad to want to do it."
At a heavier weight of 7.1 ounces this 100% linen is referred to as Rustic due to its more textured look and feel. Durable and perfect for projects that require just a bit more substance.
The cloth is Softened so we have added a softener to give it a silkier hand. The fabric has not been laundered so shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration (shrinkage depends on fabric weave and laundering method).

This is my first purchase of the heavier weight linen. The hand is lovely and the more substantial weight will be perfect for year-round clothing. I have prewashed and dried 3 times to shrink prior to sewing. A lot of lint comes off this fabric so you need to check the dryer every 20 minutes to clean the screen. The colour is absolutely gorgeous.
I am so surprised there have not been many more raving reviews on this linen. This is a beautiful Heather color and is a perfect weight for a throw blanket I am making for my sister. It feels so nice just laying in my lap as I make the fringes at the top and bottom. My daughter (22) saw me working with it and has been admiring it as much as I have. We both want a throw blanket made from this linen as well. So I am buying more of this Heather color linen and some in other colors as well. Will post a picture when I have completed the throw blanket. Did I tell you that I got the throw blanket pattern from this site? Thank you Fabrics-Store
Gorgeous Color
This color looks the same in person as it does on the website, and thank goodness because that's a great looking photo swatch, right? I ordered three yards to be able to make two slings, but there was a rather large \"birth mark\" smack in the middle of one half which was disappointing. However, this is the best quality and price of linen I've found, so I'm not going to hold it against them. If it weren't for the imperfection (which was as large as a quarter) it would be a five star review for sure.
I used this fabric for a ring sling with the size large rings from Sling Rings. I absolutely love this color! It is such a soft blue that pulls slightly lilac with rose gold rings. The linen is such a great quality and it softens so well with washing and ironing.

FABRIC CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Please note that some of our darker or more vibrant shades will have some residual dye run off or bleeding. It is important that you launder or treat like colors with like colors so that you do not compromise the integrity of any other colors, fabrics or garments during the launder process.
We also suggest that if you are combining one or more of these types of colors with lighter colors that you pre-wash the linens seperately and once the item is completed do not launder again, but Dry Clean.
