Fertile moss greens of GREEN Linen are a vital ingredient in Pierre Bonnard's paintings, bringing into them an energizing, ambient glow.
A leader in the early 20th-century intimiste movement that observed the quiet intimacy of ordinary life, Bonnard made private, simple observations come alive through luminescent color and scattered strokes of paint. Earthy greens signaled liveliness and growth in these riotous bursts of color, streaking across everything from plant pots and damp leaves to shadowy interior walls. “Work on the accent,” he observed, “it will enliven the whole.”

At a heavier weight of 7.1 ounces this 100% linen is referred to as Rustic due to its more textured look and feel. Durable and perfect for projects that require just a bit more substance.

The cloth is Softened so we have added a softener to give it a silkier hand. The fabric has not been laundered so shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration (shrinkage depends on fabric weave and laundering method).

Mother and Daughter tank tops

Our daughter and her daughter have inspired me to try sewing with linen. Washing seems easy, and drying as well, but it creates a lot of lint. Recommend checking filter before and after drying it. This green was attractive on both of them, and I hope it is color you keep in stock! A bright crisp green.

Adore this sassy color! I've transitioned my home to mid-century decor with greens, golds, oranges and browns. While this green isn't quite the perfect mid-century avocado, it definitely works. After washing, the 4C22 is buttery soft and feels heavenly against the skin. Will post a picture.

William profile image great fabric

I really like this fabric. It does shrink a bit, so be sure to wash and dry before using it for your projects. I feels so nice against your skin. I will probably try to make some bedding with this later.

Anne profile image Lovely feel

I have made bath towels with this fabric and many other 4C22 and it is just wonderful. This green is spectacular and attractive. The fabric is a joy to work with. I have ordered many times from fabrics-store and never had issue and the fabric gets to my door within a few days. I have many items at linendesignstudio.etsy.com that showcase the fabrics from this store. I just love them and boy, like they say, linen is really addictive.

Perfect!

I bought this fabric to make a mei tai carrier to carry my daughter in. The fabric is perfect I took the carrier (and her) on vacation and used it to haul a wiggly toddler all over and through several airports in hot sticky summer weather. The linen is strong, breathable, and kept her secure and us both comfortable. And it was wonderful to work with, really enjoyable to sew despite the thickness of some of the seams. Colorwise I'd describe it as a fern green. Deeper than sage, but earthier and more olive than leaf green. A very nice, quiet, color that goes well with many things.

Kari profile image Shipping time and price is ridiculous

I do love the fabric found on this site and have made many purchases in the past. I placed an order for a few yards and was charged $20+ dollars for shipping (I am in the US). It took 8 days to get to me. The tracking number provided did not work. One would think that paying $20 in shipping would get you at least the slowest (First Class Mail) which at a max is 5 days. Very disappointed with this transaction.

HEAVENLY GREEN LINEN

I LOVE this color! It is VERY similar to the green shown on the website. The quality is superb! I am in the process of making bath sheets out of the heavy weight linen. I am using 1 yard of fabric per towel, with a I-inch hem all around. I washed and dried the fabric twice before ironing, then measuring and cutting. It has such a substantial yet soft feel after only 2 washings and am sure it will only get better with time. No more taking an hour to dry a load of heavy terry towels. Linen dries in just a few minutes! Looking forward to some savings on my electric bill! I'm so happy I found the Fabrics Store! I am now a true linen addict and I'm not even looking for a cure!

I recently made a cushion cover for a friend at work using Green and Vineyard rustic weight linen. The colors are gorgeous and the linen is so nice! I plan to make bath towels out of the remaining Green yardage, and some kitchen towels out of the Vineyard, embellished with some machine embroidery. I also purchased yardage in Royal Blue, Insignia Blue (stunning!) and Excalibur. So much to sew, so little time!

Green pillowcases are 4C22; top sheet is IL019 Signature Natural (so soft!!); fitted sheet is 4C22 Natural (for sturdiness). Linen bedding.... aaaaaah.... never knew how much I wanted it until now!! FYI: King sized, deep pocket bed sheets require 7 yards each. These are perfect; no more tugging and fighting with the hubby for my share. Pure heaven.

A nice throw from this fabric. I originally purchased for a vogue pattern cardigan/coat that has unfinished edges but the client did not want this fabric. Foolish her I guess. This fabric is great and fringing the edges is great. I went ahead and securely stitched the perimeter and fringed it all out. I love it.

I made this sling for a Totoro loving friend, when she had her first child. The baby is nearly two now, and they still use it!

I adore the 4C22 linens for my hand-sewn 18th century pieces. The fabric is sturdy and solid, but has a delightful softness and flow after a wash or two. This green petticoat is quite vibrant and springy. Also pictured: English gown (4C22 Chestnut), fichu and cap (IL020 Krista Natural), shawl (4C22 Kenya)
