4C22 Rustic Bleached Softened - 100% Linen Fabric - Heavy (7.1 oz/yd2) - 20.00 Yards, Width 57"
Bleached color is achieved by "stripping" the natural pigment out of the fibers( just like you would with bleaching hair). What you are left with is a very soft shade that is just ever so slightly an off-white color.
Bleached is the basics of any project and loves being dyed. It is actually what we use to dye the colors. A truly versatile base and a must-have addition to your fabric repertoire.
At a heavier weight of 7.1 ounces this 100% linen is referred to as Rustic due to its more textured look and feel. Durable and perfect for projects that require just a bit more substance.
The cloth is Softened so we have added a softener to give it a silkier hand. The fabric has not been laundered so shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration (shrinkage depends on fabric weave and laundering method).

Customer Questions and Answers
I want to make slipcovers for wing chairs and a sofa. Would this be good fabric to use? Can you suggest others that might work as well? I would like to use white or natural color. How many times should I wash before cutting the pattern?
This fabric is our go-to for slipcovers and a fan favorite too. This fabric comes in a range of white and natural tones, and if you want to see them in person, samples are available to order too. When pre-washing it is important to thoroughly wash once in a drum full of water, for high efficiency machines or front loaders, two pre-washes might be more suitable.
Would this fabric be good for cafe curtains?
Yes, this fabric can be used for cafe curtains. If you have a particular look in mind, or are particular about the light filtering you require, please email us with these details and we can be specific with our recommendations as we have multiple fabrics suitable for curtains of this style.
Is this your best linen for bed sheets? I understand linen is the coolest and most durable of all fabrics for bed linens. Madilyn
Our go-to is our IL019 signature finish since it is our softest linen fabric in the weight most used fro sheets. Some of our customers like to use this heavy fabric for the fitted sheet if you need extra durability.
Randee, what pattern did you use for your awesome dress? Thanking you in advance! Gail
4C22 Bleached softened and 4C22 Bleached, are they the same fabric?
Yes they are the same linen. The main difference is going to be in the hand ( feel of the linen) non softened will have a stiffer, crisp hand whereas the softened will have a smooth hand.
Would this weight be appropriate for upholstery and slipcovers on chairs?
This fabric is a popular choice for slipcovers and upholstery. We encourage you get a sample or small cut from our doggie bag if available to see if this fabric is right for you.
Randee, I would also like to know what pattern you used for your summer dress. It's great! Eileen
4C22 bleached is wonderful for botanical contact printing! Mostly, I make aprons, pillow covers. This fabric is the perfect weight for home decor and takes leaf prints perfectly, with or without natural dyes. I have learned to buy some whenever it goes on sale.
Probably better for house linens but I found it great for a petticoat if you have hoops to hold the weight.
We decided to make our version of the Persephone Pants in a straight size 6 with no alterations using our gorgeous 4C22 BLEACHED Softened Heavyweight Linen in a beautiful off-white shade. At a heavier weight of 7.1 ounces, this 100% linen is durable and perfect for projects that require just a bit more substance.
I have one for our bed (king) and one for my grandson (twin). Love them, and the fabric is a delight to work with!
I ordered a good deal of linen for tablecloths for a wedding reception. It arrived so quickly that it was accidentally stored with the gifts that were arriving daily. When I called to question the whereabouts of the linen, they quickly sent me a new batch. Much to my chagrin, the original linen was discovered and the back up was happily returned. The linen was gorgeous. The tables looked like only linen could make them look. I was thrilled with the whole aesthetic, and even more thrilled after laundering the linen. It came out fairly unwrinkled and so soft I can't wait to re purpose the linen.
The whole sewing community has been going crazy about Anna Allen's Persephone Pants and Shorts pattern since its release in 2018. If you've been following some sewing blogs or makers on Instagram, chances are that you've already seen versions of it in your feed. It's been so popular online that we just had to try our hand at it. And truth be told, this Instagram favorite didn't disappoint. It really is an amazing pant pattern with clever drafting and interesting features. You can find this pattern here annaallenclothing.com/collections/all-products/products/persephone-pants-shorts
