Bleached color is achieved by "stripping" the natural pigment out of the fibers( just like you would with bleaching hair). What you are left with is a very soft shade that is just ever so slightly an off-white color.
Bleached is the basics of any project and loves being dyed. It is actually what we use to dye the colors. A truly versatile base and a must-have addition to your fabric repertoire.

At a heavier weight of 7.1 ounces this 100% linen is referred to as Rustic due to its more textured look and feel. Durable and perfect for projects that require just a bit more substance.

I purchased this 4C22 Bleached linen over a year ago to make curtains for my bedroom. I am just now getting around to doing that. My question is do I need to wash and dry the fabric before making them? I was contemplating lining them so what fabric (cotton, blend, etc) should I use to do that. Thank you for your help, Ruth Sanders

If you are planning on laundering the curtains going forward, you would need to launder them to remove the shrinkage. Our launder instructions are posted in our help center. Customers have used cotton lawn, voile, lightweight linen or blackout for lining others prefer to not use any lining.

I had 40 yards of bleached linen in my cart at $14.95 a yard on sale which ends tonight. But my cart is empty and the price has gone up. I really need to make this purchase, but preferably not at the higher price. What to do?

Hello What linen will be the tightest weave for embroidery? Jackie

Jacquelyn • April 23, 2023
Lauren profile image F|S Team

Hello Jackie, most of our fabrics are suitable for a wide range of embroidery by hand and machine. The tightest weave would be our IL020 lightweight linen. If you need something heavier you could consider our 1C64 luxury medium weight. As always, if you have a particular project in mind, please contact our friendly staff by phone or using the contact us button at the footer of our page.

Is your Linen equivalent to the Italian linen and Irish Linen? Also the softener that you offer does it make the fabric softer or added shine? Thank you.

Debbie • April 25, 2023

Hello, Italian and Irish Linen often come in various forms and types, and some times these are simply a 'brand name' given to linen produced in these countries. If you are looking for something in particular, please contact our customer service team directly so they can help you find it.

I am very happy with this linen. It has a quality feel to it, and I can't wait to work with it. I am choosing to make drapes, a Roman shade and a bed skirt.

Sublime!

I am using this linen to line my linen window treatments! At the heavier weight it adds a heft, and drape, that is truly luxurious! Thanks a million FS! I feel so blessed to have found your website, all those years, ago!

I made this curtain for our bathroom, even though some think that glass isn't see-through. It was a simple design: I folded the fabric double, stitched it then turned it right side out and top-stitched in a color to match the 4C22 Lagoon tie. It lets light in without the blindingly bright eastern sunlight.

When I'm headed to my studio, I'm usually dressed like this. An oversized blouse, that is balanced with a fitted waist. In this case, I chose a linen skirt. This look is appropriate for almost any professional setting or meeting. If I want to add some more fun to it I'll add accessories as I did here. Accessorizing is a good trick to bring balance and attention to detail. If I add bangles, your eyes are drawn to my sleeves, same as a necklace draws the eyes to the neckline. Your pieces can be intentional.

I used 7 oz bleached linen To make a wide Roman shade. I really Love the off white color and texture of this fabric.

Rosa maribel • March 19, 2022

Wool on FS BLEACHED Heavyweight Linen. I started off stitching as a way to create a weight of line which wasn't available and possible with a pen, brush or pencil. Over time though after much contemplation on the subject of stitch, gender and materials I have begun to understand it as a more rounded context of life, and the decisions we make with our individual life paths.
