Darkness pervades Tacita Dean's artworks, falling over craggy rocks and epic mountains into inky, bottomless wells. BLACK Linen shares Dean's endless black, a color that intensifies mystery and drama, cloaking and concealing everything it touches.
At a heavier weight of 7.1 ounces this 100% linen is referred to as Rustic due to its more textured look and feel. Durable and perfect for projects that require just a bit more substance.
The Premier Finish undergoes a two-step process to give the cloth a luxurious, supple feel right out of the box.
First, we apply a softener to give the fabric a silkier surface. Then, strong blasts of air are blown into the woven cloth. This beats up the fibers to make them softer and mimics the fiber bending process that the fabric undergoes when you've used it a lot.
This finishing process gives the fabric a much softer and more luxurious hand. It will be less prone to deep creases and have less linting. Shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration based on the fabric type ( thread size, count, weave type).

I made the free high-waist culottes pattern and a sleeveless dress. Both turned out great and the fabric is a perfect weight for spring. It's substantial enough to wear with a sweater, but it will work for a warmer day, too.
I haven't used this weight linen yet, but I have made several pairs of linen cropped pants and one lightweight linen top from fabric-stores.com linen, and I really love the linen. I'm sure I'll love this one, too. I am planning to make another pair of slightly heavier weight cropped pants and a black linen bag. The pants I have made have been wonderful -- much softer and more comforttable than those I buy pre-made, and they don't crease if I get them out of the dryer before it stops, they have a most wonderful texture.
After looking through many wide leg pant designs, I landed on the FS CASS pattern for its many design details I love for a summer pant. To no one's surprise, I decided to make this classic and versatile piece in FS BLACK heavy linen, my favorite fabric lately. The heavier-weight is a little stiff at first, but softens beautifully after a few washes. It's incredibly textured and durable.

FABRIC CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Please note that some of our darker or more vibrant shades will have some residual dye run off or bleeding. It is important that you launder or treat like colors with like colors so that you do not compromise the integrity of any other colors, fabrics or garments during the launder process.
We also suggest that if you are combining one or more of these types of colors with lighter colors that you pre-wash the linens seperately and once the item is completed do not launder again, but Dry Clean.
