IL085 Lemon is a Jacquard cloth created by weaving different color threads to create intricate patterns - or paintings woven with thread. This particular design carries a lemon pattern with asymmetrical borders as a modern take on a traditional design. The fact that the borders are uneven forces us to create harmony, to go a little beyond what we usually do.
The engineering of this cloth allows the Jacquard to be read equally well from either side - you have a reversible fabric that changes its dominant color scheme depending on what side you pick. The bright colors are a continuation of the modern aesthetic allowing these items to be right at home in traditional as well as modern interiors. Design created exclusively for F|S

IL085 is woven out of the same long-staple wet-combed 100% linen thread we use to weave everyone's favorite All-Purpose medium weight IL019. However, because it needed to be thicker for towels, it has a 16% higher thread count and therefore a heavier weight of 6.8 ounces a square yard.

This fabric is narrow at 20" wide with a finished selvage - this allows you to spend less time cutting and sewing and get to the fun part of using your items sooner. Because this cloth is woven using the same size thread with nearly an identical thread count for warp and weft - the fabric will have even shrinkage of 8% both for length and width. Shrinkage is based on a warm wash and low-heat dry.

This fabric is 100% linen ( flax) and has received rigorous Oeko-Tex certification ensuring that the items are biodegradable, recyclable, and free of harmful toxins or irritants.

Narrow width does take some creative adjusting.

Narrow cloth is perfect for:

  • Bags
  • Placemats and napkins
  • Runners
  • Decorative Pillows
  • Appliance Covers
  • Potholders
  • Aprons
  • and, of course, Kitchen Towels ( these will leave no lint on glass and are great for fine china and crystal)

Why is this gorgeous print not evenly printed?

Our designers chose to add asymmetrical borders to give this classic pattern a modern twist.

Hi, I'm in love with your site!! Thank you, it's so beautiful and generous. As a beginner, I want to try your Augustina top, size 02 in the lemon linen. It takes 1 yard, but how much oof this fabric should I order, please? Also, will the face of the top be all yellow, or how much of the grey color/border would be on the top? I'd like to have a solid yellow top. Thank you! Lara S

Thank you for your great words. We really appreciated . Regarding IL085 jacquard lemon this is a narrow fabric 19" wide , I don't think it possible to make a Augustina top. If you still want to do sewing with this fabric you will have a lot of stitches .

Beautiful fabric

I made napkins from both the lemon and lime patterns. Turned out beautiful! I'd submit a picture but survey doesn't have an upload function.

beautiful lint

Gorgeous fabric. I like the uneven border and its pattern. These were for a gift but I'll need to warn the recipient about the lint. I thought they were a cheaper cotton before checking the website. The green limes version of this is slightly sturdier and didn't fuzz as much.

Thank you to those who left a project picture!

I wanted to thank those who left project photos. I admit to being, confused as to how to use this linen effectively, althought I did come up with a usable solution, mine wasn't nearly as wonderful as the two sample aprons. Those aprons are gorgeous, and ingenious Use of these three special fabrics. I am going to think along the lines of a carafe apron for juice servers. I will definitely try this linen again. I've bought lots of linen and had lots of lint with nearly every wash. But I always figured it to be like the lint that washes out with cotton fabrics, at least partially a stablizer.

2 prior reviews should have been rated 1star, not 5

After 5 washings I'm still collecting too much lint and the fabric weave is loosening and wearing in areas. I've yet to use the towels I made for my own use and definitely can't give away the others, as I had intended.

This can’t be right

I've studied textiles in school and worked with fabric both as a career and hobby for 50 years, and never have I experienced so much pilling and massive amounts of lint as I have from this jacquard linen. I'm on the 4th wash of "dish towels," which have yet to be used and I'm still picking off globs of matted lint. I placed one in a lingerie bag and the bag is covered in a thin layer of yellow lint with large clumps of lint collected in each inside corner of the bag. I spent $135 on yardage and shipping and can't think of any way I can use these towels. I certainly don't want them clogging up my machine filter any more than they already have. So disappointed.

I made my sweet little sister a kitchen set as a gift using only 3 yards of the IL085 LEMONS narrow Linen. I also made up a free downloadable tutorial for you Linen Lovers to download from the 'Files' section of our Facebook Sewing Group.

I used 2 yards. 1 yard for the apron and the 2nd one was used to even out the print using the white and the green was used for a facing, pocket and the ties! Now I'm making the yellow and orange prints! They are breathtaking!

Super fun print and lovely and absorbent for kitchen towels. I cut mine 30" long and they only shrunk to 27" long by 19" wide after a gentle warm wash and low machine dry. Keep the selvage on or hem, either way, looks nice in this fabric.
