IL019 All-purpose Bleached - 100% Linen Fabric - Medium (5.3 oz/yd2) - 0.20 Yard, Width 58"
Bleached color is achieved by "stripping" the natural pigment out of the fibers( just like you would with bleaching hair). What you are left with is a very soft shade that is just ever so slightly an off-white color.
Bleached is the basics of any project and loves being dyed. It is actually what we use to dye the colors. A truly versatile base and a must-have addition to your fabric repertoire.
At a medium weight of 5.3 ounces this 58 inch wide 100% linen is versatile enough to be referred to as an All Purpose or Do it All linen. With its smooth look and tighter weave, this linen is neither sheer or heavy, but just the right in-between weight you will need for a variety of projects.

I want to make a linen throw. What weight would be appropriate and should I make it two layers?
Typically you can use any of our linens for a throw, but it will come down to the look, feel color or pattern you are wanting. Layering would depend on which linen you choose. Our specialty linens such as our IL028, IL002 and Jacquard linens are also used.
I want to embroider a cross for our altar linens. Is this a good fit for that?
Yes, many of our customers have embroidered on this fabric with excellent results.

Would the IL019 be the best weight for making swaddling blankets for newborns? We live in an area where the summer temperatures are quite high (100° or higher) and I want to take advantage of linen's reputation as a comfortable hot weather fabric.
I'd try our IL020 for a light weight and breathable swaddling fabric.
How do you ship a bolt of fabric? On the roll or folded?
Hello, bolts are shipped on the bolt, rolled up.
Hi! Is this a good weight for linen napkins?
Yes, this is our go-to fabric for napkins.
I make slips/nightgowns with this linen... it is perfect as linen keeps me cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
This linen is a joy to work with. I order at least 10 yards at a time, so I always have some available to dye, embroider, stencil on and stamp. It his high quality.
This is one of the linens I always try to have on hand in my studio. I mostly use it for my clothing line. It takes natural dyes beautifully.
Truly Versatile, Beautiful! Love the weight, feel, drape and durability! Sews so easily, only use a few pins. Have Indigo dyed, and Love the outcome. Thank you Fabrics Store for such Beautiful Linen Always!!!
It's beautiful fabric but too yellow and sheer for what I needed. Ordering a heavier weight!
Here I'am at Gathering of the Guilds, Portland Oregon, booth #19.April 19, 20, 21, 2024. I hand paint IL109 All purpose bleached, 5.3. Linen. After the linen is painted and dried I dip it into, Eco-Friendly Fabric Softener and redry. The name of my business is, Hand Painted Linen by Karin. I use a fluid approach when I paint, stitch and design. I'am inspired by the murmuration of birds because it reflects my creative process. See me on Instagram karin.graves.painter.designer. I am currently teaching my process.
In July of 2022, I bought 6 yards of each of the yellow, orange and green IL084 Olivier stripes. My plan at that time was to make either placemats or towels or both for our new house. It was in November of 2022 when the house was finished and we were able to move in. At some point, I got the idea to use the fabric for curtains for our oversized pantry (aka Giganta-Pantry). This is the final result. With IL019 Bleached peeking through from the semi-sheer layer. Semi-sheer because that window faces south and gets a lot of the Texas sun.
