Bleached color is achieved by "stripping" the natural pigment out of the fibers( just like you would with bleaching hair). What you are left with is a very soft shade that is just ever so slightly an off-white color.
Bleached is the basics of any project and loves being dyed. It is actually what we use to dye the colors. A truly versatile base and a must-have addition to your fabric repertoire.

At a medium weight of 5.3 ounces, this 100% linen is versatile enough to be referred to as an All Purpose or Do it All linen. With its smooth look and tighter weave, this linen is neither sheer or heavy, but just the right in-between weight you will need for a variety of projects.

Our FS Signature Finish was developed exclusively for us using a special process that makes this linen super soft with a comfy, classic look you'll love at first sight.
As a bonus, this process removes almost all of the initial shrinkage, giving you more fabric to get your projects done.
This finish makes the linen as soft as butter. Yep, 100% linen that feels and drapes and sews as no linen you have ever encountered. Because the fabric has been pre-shrunk for you - it will be less than the base cloth width.

Is this good for making bath towels and kitchen towels?? Is it absorbent as the other linens?

We prefer our 4C22 heavyweight which is the twin to our kitchen towel fabric, but in the wider width. We recommend this fabric in our Milos Bath Towel free pattern.

Several of our customers have used this linen with various dye methods with amazing results. We recommend testing the dye method with this linen before you start the project to make sure all is as it should be.

can I really expect minimal shrinkage with this fabric? I still plan to pre-wash

Jean • August 29, 2022
MC

Yes you can expect less than 3% shrinkage as opposed to our other linens that have a 7-10% shrinkage rate. Yes we do recommend pre-washing this to remove the residual shrinkage.

Just Beautiful

I made eight single panel curtains for a new three-season room on my home this summer from this linen. They were so beautiful I continued and ended up covering a total of 18 windows throughout.

Soft and lovely to wear

This linen is extra soft and has a lovely hand. I've made lots of clothes from Fabrics Store linen but the shirt I made with this linen is my favorite so far. It has just enough body to keep its shape and is incredibly comfortable. I made the Gilbert Top by Helen's Closet and the Cara (Cora?) culottes from this site (my preferred site for all patterns, free or not!). Both excellent patterns!

I didn't believe all the hype....

Now I am a believer. I was skeptical when I ordered this linen. I didn't think it could possibly be "all that"...but i was so wrong. I absolutely loved sewing with it. I made a shirt and I never want to take it off. The linen is so silky smooth and soft. I am ready to throw away all the shirts in my closet and make all my shirts from this fabric. Can't wait to start my next project with this linen. Thank you Fabric Store for providing such and outstanding product at a reasonable price!

Sewed my first garment since 1967

I'm in love with this linen. My first sewing project in years and I'm pleased with the results, especially the fabric. So pleased in fact I ordered 3 more Doggy bags if linen! The shirt is a Simplicity pattern. I like the shaped cuffs and the pleats in the back. The arms gave me a wee bit of trouble, nut I persevered. I only discovered the overlock foot on my machine after I finished. But, I've gone back in and overlocked the seams. Planning to review the tutorial on seams asap.

I used IL019 to make this 3-piece suit which I've dubbed the "Soft Suit" I bought the linen in natural and dyed it this lovely mint colour. The fabric has a beautiful hand and I think the no-shrink promise holds true although I did pre-wash. I used some vintage Vogue patterns fromteh 90s which turned out brilliantly. I'm delighted with my linen suit.

Helen's Closet Gilbert Top. Amazing fabric for a shirt. Incredibly comfortable - soft but keeps it shape. Washes beautifully.

Martha • September 12, 2022

The fabric I chose was the IL09 FS Bleached Signature Finish White linen. It has a lovely weight and is a bit sheer, so I will wear nude colored undergarments with the dress. The white is a perfect white — not a stark white, and not an off-white. The linen was soft from the get go, and has softened still as I wear this dress.

This linen showcases stitching beautifully! And it's so soft!

CJ • August 16, 2022

Absolutely love this beautiful linen! #ClosetCoreCielo here with pintucks and decorative stitches.
