Bleached color is achieved by "stripping" the natural pigment out of the fibers( just like you would with bleaching hair). What you are left with is a very soft shade that is just ever so slightly an off-white color.
Bleached is the basics of any project and loves being dyed. It is actually what we use to dye the colors. A truly versatile base and a must-have addition to your fabric repertoire.

At a heavier weight of 7.1 ounces this 100% linen is referred to as Rustic due to its more textured look and feel. Durable and perfect for projects that require just a bit more substance.

I purchased this 4C22 Bleached linen over a year ago to make curtains for my bedroom. I am just now getting around to doing that. My question is do I need to wash and dry the fabric before making them? I was contemplating lining them so what fabric (cotton, blend, etc) should I use to do that. Thank you for your help, Ruth Sanders

Ruth • August 15, 2022
Maureen profile image F|S Team

If you are planning on laundering the curtains going forward, you would need to launder them to remove the shrinkage. Our launder instructions are posted in our help center. Customers have used cotton lawn, voile, lightweight linen or blackout for lining others prefer to not use any lining.

what weight linen is best for zippered throw pillow covers? thank you

LoriA • October 4, 2023
Lauren profile image F|S Team

Generally medium and heavyweight fabrics are ideal for throw pillow covers. For something rustic and sturdy try our 4C22, for smooth and soft patterns and stripes, try our French ticking or IL098 Jacquard. For soft and comfy, try the IL019 and 1C64.

I bought this linen yesterday during your sale. I plan to dye 2 yds with onion skin and maybe avocados for the other 2 yds ( I am making a 1770's petticoat and short gown) My question is...do I need to scour the linen first, and if so, can I use Dawn and wash in my washer? Thanks!

Rebecca • August 2, 2023
Lauren profile image F|S Team

Hello! I love the idea to naturally dye your fabrics. As for more details about scouring for natural dyes, I would consult our extensive blog series on the topic, go to Blog.fabrics-store.com and search Natural Dyeing. Here is the article on preparing your fabric: blog.fabrics-store.com/2023/04/18/natural-dyeing-preparing-your-fabric-for-dyeing/

Hello Jackie, most of our fabrics are suitable for a wide range of embroidery by hand and machine. The tightest weave would be our IL020 lightweight linen. If you need something heavier you could consider our 1C64 luxury medium weight. As always, if you have a particular project in mind, please contact our friendly staff by phone or using the contact us button at the footer of our page.

Is your Linen equivalent to the Italian linen and Irish Linen? Also the softener that you offer does it make the fabric softer or added shine? Thank you.

Debbie • April 25, 2023

Hello, Italian and Irish Linen often come in various forms and types, and some times these are simply a 'brand name' given to linen produced in these countries. If you are looking for something in particular, please contact our customer service team directly so they can help you find it.

Is the 19.25 the happy hour price. I've been waiting for a sale to buy a 20 yard bolt. It seems I am only getting the 10 percent bolt price.

Joanne • May 14, 2024
Maureen profile image F|S Team

The Happy Hour sale discount does not extend to the bolts. It is a discount for the price per yard and cannot be combined with any other % discounts listed for fabrics.

Linen bread bag. Wonderful material. I can't wait to use it for other projects.

Christine • April 7, 2024

4C22 bleached was excellent for counted embroidering. This top is a variation on a traditional folk pattern often known as Romanian blouse. The hand embroidery design is from northern Bulgaria.

Vessie • September 13, 2023

Antonia pattern. 4C22 linen white. Hand blocked print, with decorative stitching This is my first caftan. The tutorial really helped me. Thank you.

Donna • July 30, 2023

I made this curtain for our bathroom, even though some think that glass isn't see-through. It was a simple design: I folded the fabric double, stitched it then turned it right side out and top-stitched in a color to match the 4C22 Lagoon tie. It lets light in without the blindingly bright eastern sunlight.

Barbara • May 16, 2023

When I'm headed to my studio, I'm usually dressed like this. An oversized blouse, that is balanced with a fitted waist. In this case, I chose a linen skirt. This look is appropriate for almost any professional setting or meeting. If I want to add some more fun to it I'll add accessories as I did here. Accessorizing is a good trick to bring balance and attention to detail. If I add bangles, your eyes are drawn to my sleeves, same as a necklace draws the eyes to the neckline. Your pieces can be intentional.
