Can the Abby pants and shorts be made without the drawstring? What is the construction of the elastic waist? (one wide piece of elastic or several 1/4 inch in a channel?) Thank you!

The construction is designed for the elastic to sit at the back and the drawstring to sit from the side seams to the front. You could easily adjust this to have elastic the whole way around.

Which color is the red in the pictures?

Deana • May 17, 2024

That is our IL041 open weave fabric which we have completely sold out of. The best alternative would be our IL019 in the color Crimson.

What is the seam allowance on these patterns, please? I would like to make French Seams as I don't have a serger. Thank you.

Seam allowances are 1/2" unless otherwise states on the pattern and instructions. All seam allowances are included in the patterns.

Hello, Do you think I can make the Abbey long sleeve duster with your bleached linen IL020 or IL030?

Hi I was wondering why none of your patterns have a specific linen weight recommendation? Even something along the lines of 'the garment pictured was made using our .......... linen in ...oz weight......in ......... colour!' I have bought your linen fabric before and while it was lovely it was more transparent than I expected.

Hello and thank you for your feedback. All of our pattern booklets list the fabrics our patterns were sampled in and we are working to get back the feature which suggested fabrics for each of our patterns on this site. If you would like to know specific fabrics for any of our patterns, please email us :)

What width elastic do you recommend for this pattern? I just glanced quickly, but couldn't find it. Thanks

Kathleen • July 3, 2023

1 1/2" wide elastic is recommended for the pants waistband.

Hi. I have a few questions about the Abbey capsule patterns. I fall into the Size 4 category, but I'm just 5" 1and 3/4." Would it be possible to size these patterns down to a very petite length? Also, should I choose the pattern size to buy based on the finished garment size or the cut size? I prefer to wear more form fitting clothes; I'm inclined to choose a size 2. Would that be appropriate? Thank you for taking the time to answer.

Much easier than I first thought

I wanted this pattern specifically for the wrap top. When first I got the pattern out, I looked at the pattern pieces and thought this would be really challenging. Thanks to the guide booklet that came with the pattern, however, the top went together without a hitch. I used the midweight linen for the top, but cut the bias binding from some tropical print challis from my stash. The assembly was much easier than I anticipated thanks to the carefully drafted pattern.

The Perfect Pandemic Pants

I was looking for a good-looking unisex pants pattern and this fit perfectly! The drape on these pants is very fashionable. I used IL020 Black for maximum comfort. These are the perfect pandemic pants - comfy stylish loungewear that functions equally well as both pajamas and wearing out to dinner, once that becomes a thing again. Move over, frumpy sweatpants!

Everyone loves options. You get so many with the Abbey pattern set: it has 7 pieces. I cannot resist a great collar, so, the cardigan was a perfect choice for me. I was looking for something that could transition the seasons. I like the roomy design of the cardigan. The sleeveless option fits the bill for transitional. I see it as the perfect pool to dinner outfit but then also so cute layered with a turtleneck and boots. It would also look great with the pants layered underneath. We love options.

One garment that came to mind that would serve as the ideal foundation to build a layer-able, breastfeed-able look was the Abbey cardigan. I chose the longest length with short sleeves and the braided wrap belt. Sure, I could have saved a little time by making the flat belt, but what type of last minute sewist with the clock ticking away would I be if I didn't choose the slightly more labor intensive option? Besides, I work more efficiently under pressure.
