He swept passages of daring pink across his huge paintings – and even onto the surrounding frames - in large, gestural strokes, nestling them in amongst an unlikely array of ultramarine blues, acid greens or deep ochre yellows.
His daring and endlessly inventive approach to color was a revelation, opening up visual dialogues that continue to fascinate audiences around the world today.
At a medium weight of 5.3 ounces this 58 inch wide 100% linen is versatile enough to be referred to as an All Purpose or Do it All linen. With its smooth look and tighter weave, this linen is neither sheer or heavy, but just the right in-between weight you will need for a variety of projects.
Our FS Signature Finish was developed exclusively for us using a special process that makes this linen super soft with a comfy, classic look you'll love at first sight.
As a bonus, this process removes almost all of the initial shrinkage, giving you more fabric to get your projects done.
This finish makes the linen as soft as butter. Yep, 100% linen that feels and drapes and sews as no linen you have ever encountered. Because the fabric has been pre-shrunk for you - it will be less than the base cloth width.

I was looking for a red to make a new dress, and as a classically trained singer, I couldn't pass up "Traviata" red. It's gorgeous, and like all the other fabrics I've bought from here, sewed up beautifully. I like to wash and dry on high heat to shrink as much as possible, then starch and iron before sewing. I love my new dress I made with this fabric!
I will confess that I wasn't entirely certain about this color, but that's what the sample options are for, right? On my monitor, the color appears more orangey red, but my goodness does it look different in person. This red was an unexpected delight, presenting initially as an eye-catching red color, but with a pinker undertone that allows it to side-step being a true crimson red. Don't get me wrong, I love a good show-stopping red (and I keep eyeing the gorgeous Crimson linen on this site), but what I love about Red Traviata is that the hint of pink transforms it into a color that's just FUN. It's bright and unsubtle, but just enough of a lower tonality to keep it from being too jarring to the eye. It is attention-getting in a jovial and friendly sort of way, and will lend well to garments intended for fun times with friends, smiles and laughter.
Lyric Dress by Love Notions. I made this with French seams (so worth it, despite the extra time it takes), and custom gigantic anchored pockets. I'll get many years out of this.

FABRIC CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Please note that some of our darker or more vibrant shades will have some residual dye run off or bleeding. It is important that you launder or treat like colors with like colors so that you do not compromise the integrity of any other colors, fabrics or garments during the launder process.
We also suggest that if you are combining one or more of these types of colors with lighter colors that you pre-wash the linens seperately and once the item is completed do not launder again, but Dry Clean.
