1C64 Luxury Bleached - 100% Linen Fabric - Medium (5.3 oz/yd2) - 0.20 Yard, Width 58"
Bleached color is achieved by "stripping" the natural pigment out of the fibers( just like you would with bleaching hair). What you are left with is a very soft shade that is just ever so slightly an off-white color.
Bleached is the basics of any project and loves being dyed. It is actually what we use to dye the colors. A truly versatile base and a must-have addition to your fabric repertoire.
A finer quality 5.3 ounce medium weight 58 inch wide 100% linen that is woven with finer threads, and an increased thread count. The higher thread count makes 1C64 shrink less and gives this linen a very smooth and luxurious look and feel, earning it the moniker "luxury linen".

Customer Questions and Answers
Maureen: would you send me your tutorial on natural dyeing? Or maybe post a link? Thank you.
We have a comprehensive series on our blog on Natural Dyeing, you can view them all by searching "Natural dyeing" on our blog, The Thread, or visiting this link: blog.fabrics-store.com/?s=Natural+dyeing&post_type=post
About how much can I expect this to shrink? I want to make a bath sheet with it. What percentage do I need to add for shrinkage? Thanks!
Hello, This fabric's approximate shrinkage is 7% when washing using our recommended methods.
Is this one perfect for a tablecloth please?
Yes, this is an ideal fabric for a tablecloth
I don't know anything about dying linen, but could you dye this linen sparkling white for an altar cloth?
Hello, it is quite difficult to 'dye' fabrics brighter whites, you will need to look into an optical brightener. Otherwise, there is a similar medium weight fabric, IL019, which is optic white.
What is the max amount of yards we can order in on reem or not cut. I'm looking to make curtains for big slider doors. Thanks
Depending on the linen our rolls sizes are approximately 50 yards. If you are inquiring about the 1C64 then it would be 50 yards on one roll.
How does FC64 differ from IL19?
There is a helpful article on our blog that explains the differences, this is the link blog.fabrics-store.com/2009/02/10/a-limited-time-sale-on-finer-quality-medium-weight-linen/
What is the difference between IC64 and IL019. They both have the same weight listed. Is one more sheer than the other? Or am I missing something?
The 1c64 fabric is our luxury mediumweight linen which is woven from finer linen threads in an even weave so the surface of the fabric is smoother with fewer slubs and it also has a lower tendency to wrinkle as much as the iL019.
Do you have any information on future availability of the 1c64 Optic White Luxury Finish?
I'm sorry we do not have an ETA for this fabric's restock at this time.
If I'm making curtains, do I need to line them? I don't mind light passing through, I just don't want people to be able to see in at night?
We recommend to line the curtains , without lining the light will pass through and it will be visible at night.
Is this the fabric most similar to organdy? Is it the best one to use for a bridal trousseau? Would handkerchief linen IS020 be a better choice? Thanks Lauren!
The IL020 fabric is made of fine linen threads and has a smooth hand. It isn't as sheer as Organdy, but is the closest you'll get in our 100% linen fabric.
Can this bleached linen take natural dyes or do I need to find an unbleached version?
We recommend dyeing our fabrics on the bleached fabric since this is what we also use as our base for our dyed fabrics. It gives the most color accurate and brilliant results.
This is my first time ordering fabric from this site. If my pattern calls for 2 yds, how much more do I need to allow for shrinkage? Also, is the bleached fabric see through?
This fabric has up to 10% Shrinkage so be sure to get another yard to ensure you will have enough fabric. This fabric is not see through.
Would like to know if this is 100% flax linen?
Yes it is
Hello, Does this Linen need to be mordanted for natural dyes? I have been doing flower bundling and natural dying with your Linen and they take the color beautifully, but I do scour and mordant... Thank you for your time, Nancy
Please look to your email, I will send a tutorial for natural dying that will be helpful.
I should add that the link to get the dyeing instructions is toward the bottom of the homepage.
I don't think you need to scour, just wash. But you will have to use mordant to get a long-lasting dye. I am getting this from the dying instructions I got from fabrics-store.com. You can get a PDF sent to you if you click on the link at the bottom of this website.
This is special linen - very fine & smooth. I use it for special makes. The only possible negative is that it was difficult to thread-straighten.
I now have every style & weight of F-S's linen & I love them all. I've made curtains with IL020 but this weight is perfect for all-season apparel; for me this means dresses. Don't hesitate to buy this.
I think I prefer this to the softened version, because I view all linen with an eye to counted thread work. The unsoftened versions are crisper and the threads are better defined. For garments, however, the softened versions are nice.
I loved the weight and the slight silkiness to this fabric. I used Shibori hand tying dye techniques on mine
High quality linen at a reasonable price. It us encouraging that I can find quality linen for my sewing interests. If they can keep us in business, then we can keep them in business.
Modified FS Premium Catriona Blouse pattern using 1C64 Bleached. I had 1C64 Bleached in my stash- it's perfect! I cut out the front as 2 pieces with 2 inches added to each piece for the button placket. I also cut 2 inch wide pieces for the facing. I lengthened the sleeves 3 inches this time for a bracelet length sleeve and kept the length shortened 2 inches. In the pictures I am also wearing pants in the Sara FS free pattern (pleats converted to darts) in 4C22 Prestige.
Arguably, my favorite thing about this pattern is that the only speed bump with linen (so many wrinkles!) essentially doesn't exist given its bias drape. Any time I wear a linen dress cut on the grain, it tends to immediately crease; but given that the grain is diagonal, it stays looking beautiful and crease free the whole time!
