Bleached color is achieved by "stripping" the natural pigment out of the fibers ( just like you would with bleaching hair). What you are left with is a very soft shade that is just ever so slightly an off-white color.
Bleached is the basics of any project and loves being dyed. It is actually what we use to dye the colors. A truly versatile base and a must-have addition to your fabric repertoire.
Fluffy, dimensional, and simply a joy to live with - you’ll feel like a
sewing maestro when you pull this cloth out of its first dry cycle.

Customer Questions and Answers
Descriptions of waffle colored fabrics say softened but bleached does not. Will bleached end up as soft as colors?
Yes with wash and use the bleached will soften - it may take a wash or 2 more. Please take a look at our new Eco Friendly fabric softener fabrics-store.com/more/eco-friendly-fabric-softener-volume-3.5-oz-scent-unscented
Once you wash and dry it does it restretch? I have some sweaters and a few other things that once you put them on they stretch and really hang. I want a robe/cover-up but don't want it to end up dragging on the floor. Thanks.
No, this product shrinks to create the puckered waffle look and holds its shape nicely once it is washed and dried.
Before washing, what size would I cut the fabric for regular towels, ~28"x54"? I don't want a bath sheet. Thank you.
Hello, we have updated our cutting instructions on the blog for bath towel sizes. Please go to our blog 'The Thread' and search "waffle towels" to bring up the tutorial and cutting directions.
Could you show the layout for cutting towels from 3 yards of waffle fabric. I didn't save it when I ordered Thanks
If needed we can email to you or please look on our blog where we have it posted as well. blog.fabrics-store.com/2021/07/21/tutorial-how-to-make-waffle-bath-towels/
I purchased 3 yds to make the towel set. Can you tell me what the finished size of the towels will be?
Please refer to the waffle tutorial on our blog blog.fabrics-store.com/2021/07/21/tutorial-how-to-make-waffle-bath-towels/
One person was worried about cutting and sewing after washing. Just steam iron and it will become almost completely flat. Easy peasy to continue on with the preshrunken fabric. Good luck!!! And I made towels and washcloths with mine. LOVE them and will be making LOTS more. Thinking Christmas gifts, so will need a good sale. Hint hint hint. :)
I want to make curtains hung with clip rings for my barn house out of the waffle fabric. I know I saw someone mention how they make theirs and I can't find it.
The only reference I was able to find for curtains was a previously posted picture where the waffle was paired with another linen - I will email you the picture, but the customer did not go into detail on the process she used.
I see where a couple of shoppers have used this waffle weave to make a King size comforter. I would like to do that but want to ensure after washing it, that it will still have enough drop to cover the bottom of my King size, 14 inch deep mattress plus the top of a bedskirt. How many yards should I order, what size should I cut, recommendations for seaming to make it large enough, etc.?
I spoke with our in house sewing and pattern consultant, Lauren who recommend 8 yards of fabric, 4 yards is used for the center panel, and 2 side panels are cut from the remaining 4 yards, this is from the washed fabric. If you want to do it with the unwashed fabric, you can use the shrinkage rates as a guide, or you can email Lauren at askfabrics-store.com. There are a number of methods for seaming listed in the help center article here: support.fabrics-store.com/hc/en-us/articles/4422004938381-Sewing-with-your-IS010-Waffle-Weave-Fabric
I purchased the bleached fabric for towels, can you tell me what the cutting dimensions are for the 3 yards I can't find the blog

Buying to make some bath towels. Would you recommend using cotton thread when sewing?
We recommend All Purpose' 100% Polyester threads like the Sew-All thread by Gutermann.
Where can I find directions and dimensions of making towels?
Please refer to this article posted on our blog blog.fabrics-store.com/2021/07/21/tutorial-how-to-make-waffle-bath-towels/
Is it better to finish the edges prior to washing it?
Yes you would want to finish the edges before washing
I just made a bath sheet and 3 hand towels out of 2.5 yards. I will say that the shrinkage wasn't as extreme as they stated, but it could be the way I washed or the temp, or many other factors. These are the softest, squishiest, lightest, most springy towels I've ever felt in my life. I'm immediately buying more fabric for dish rags and more towels and a throw. You won't regret buying this. I do recommend using their fabric softeners, it works wonders on their linens!
I purchased this fabric to sew the beginner friendly handmade bath towels project, recommended by Fabrics-Store. The fabric is absolutely beautiful both before and after creating the waffle pattern and the tutorial was very accessible for a beginner. I enjoyed getting to work on my seams and being left with a gorgeous and functional set of towels.
What an interesting first linen project/purchase! and I was in the market for new towels too! Wanting to copy the sizes I had on hand I tweaked the layout, turning pieces the other way for two 39 x 69 bath towels, two 30 x 38 hand towels and four 15 x 18 wash cloths leaving a bit of fabric to experiment with (hand towels ended up 32 x 38 due to excess fabric length – more is better, right?) The 1" hemmed/washed sizes: 30.5 x 56.5 bath, 25.5 x 31 hand (also works for a hair towel!), 13.5 x 11.5 wash cloth. I washed them once on warm with med dry but they didn't shrink as suggested so I washed and dried HOT (sorry, never again haha) to get these sizes. Hubby says wash cloth is a great exfoliator! so I told him they will become softer with washing. A tip I borrowed from the tea towel tutorial was using the paper guide to iron hems but I marked and ironed mine at 1" and simply pushed ½" underneath to complete the hem. Such awesome towels!! Photos show cut pieces under finished. Next I'm making the tea towels AND some "doggie bag" sheep cotton pjs for my granddaughter : )
I bought 3 yards and made 2 bath towels and 2 hand towels. These are the world's most beautiful towels, I love them so much. The bleached color is a luminous creamy white that is gorgeous. Several times during the day I wander into the bathroom to admire them. I am going to make lots more, can't wait to make wash cloths also. They are a little rough, in a good way, like the line dried towels of my youth. After sewing, I washed them in warm water with a top load washer and dried on hot (they are bath towels after all) and the shrinkage was quite reasonable, pretty much as described.
I don't have any interest in hand-towels. I ordered six yards and got four towels and twelve wash-cloths. I serged the edges, then turned into a hem. I just washed them and hung them out to dry. They are still very large and luxurious. What they don't have in thickness, they make up in size. There is still some lint on them, so I hope to put them in the dryer for a few minutes to shake that off. Looking at the washcloths, they can double as hand-towels. I am going to be moving to a climate that is hot and humid in the summers, and these are good. Quality terrycloth takes forever to dry. I am going to dye them some shade of blue-green, but right now admiring them as they are.
I made a bed cover for summer (Atlanta=hot!) and a bath sheet from the bleached waffle fabric and med weight contrast linen. I did not pre-wash. I had less than the expected shrinkage after 3 washes and dries. Lots of lint though, which I was expecting. I use a front load washer and used first low, then med heat. My 50-year old Singer and I had a fun day! I am very pleased!
