Timeless designs that will remind you of cherished childhood memories and inspire you to create items for your family that they will pass on to the next generation.
Lightweight, plain weave, 100% cotton PERCALE. This 59 inch wide, 3.6 ounces per square yard fabric has a thread count that was specifically selected to create the ideal balance of durability, breathability, and price.
The cloth is tightly woven using a one over, one under weaving technique that gives you the perfect combination of a crisp hand and smooth surface.
PERCALE is light, crisp, and breathable, making it the perfect fabric for children's garments, apparel, home textiles and of course bedding for everyone including little ones and those of us who are hot sleepers.
Our collection received rigorous Oeko-Tex certification and is a part of the BCI (Better Cotton Initiative) - ensuring that these items are biodegradable, recyclable, and free of harmful toxins or irritants (good for your family and good for the planet). F|S Exclusive designs.
The cloth is Softened so we have added a softener to give it a silkier hand. The fabric has not been laundered so shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration (shrinkage depends on fabric weave and laundering method).

Customer Questions and Answers
What is the width? What is shrinkage percentage? As percale does it iron well? I see gathers on her dress/nightgown so will it iron so that the gathers look nice when wearing it as a dress?
Based on our recommended wash instructions, which can be found in our help center, the shrinkage will be 3% in the warp and 5% in the weft. This irons very nicely and will hold the gathers accordingly.
Would this fabric work well for an adult peasant-type blouse? I'm not sure exactly what "percale" means.
If you have a particular pattern in mind, we can help you select the best fabric to match, just email our helpful customer service staff with the pattern number. Percale is the type of weave of this cotton fabric which makes it have an almost satin like sheen on one side of the fabric. It is a lovely soft, yet structured fabric which can suit some types of blouses.
Would this be heavy enough for throw pillow covers?
This fabric is a light weight fabric so if you are looking for something heavyweight and sturdy, perhaps try our faille or French Ticking
Is the stripe woven or printed?
The stripe is printed.
This is a child's size 3 bishop dress with smocking. The fabric was wonderful to sew upon and pressed up nicely. It was NOT particularly suitable for smocking as it is a tightly woven percale that doesn't accept hand embroidery easily. The finished dress will wear well and last through several children. I will happily use this fabric again but not for hand embroidery.
