Description:
The Maia pattern features a simple, figure-flattering shift dress & blouse-length top that you will reach for often. The bias-cut, A-line dress has bust darts and several seamed panels for shaping and fullness in just the right places. No fussy closures are needed — the dress simply pulls over the head with an ample V-neckline. The length grazes the knee, or just below, with a generous flouncing fullness at the hem. For the dress length, choose the short-sleeve option or the long-sleeve with the waist tie.
The blouse keeps the silhouette and also requires no closures. It comes with a rounded neckline and short sleeve making it a perfect garment to layer under a jacket or to wear alone on warmer days.

Customer Questions and Answers
For the Maia pattern, how much yardage do I need to make a 26 as a midi
Hello, Our patterns only go up to a size 24. If you will be adjusting the pattern we recommend calculating your new yardage requirements by creating a mock layout with your new pattern pieces and measuring the length.
I just finished the dress and I love it! If I wanted to omit the sleeves, could I finish the sleeves as I did with the collar?
We recommend trying on the dress and trimming away any excess around the armhole to your liking. Armholes which are designed for sleeves cover more of your shoulders so can look wide on your body. Once this is done, you can bias bind them exactly in the manner you finished the neckline :)
Hi, is just the dress bias cut or the tshirt as well?
The blouse is also bias cut.
How much yardage should I buy for 14 long sleeves dress?
Hello, This depends on the pattern you are using and the sizes you are sewing for. If you have a pattern and sizes, you can always pass this on to us via email and we can help with pointing you in the right direction. If you don't have this information you could conservatively purchase 4 or 5 yards x 14
Is there a way to add pockets ? My new rule; only dresses with pockets !
Of course! This pattern has a side seam that you can add an inseam pocket to. You can use our tutorial and pocket pattern from our blog. Here is a link to your essential pocket tutorials: blog.fabrics-store.com/2022/07/26/sewing-glossary-how-to-sew-your-most-essential-four-pockets/
I seem to be between size 16 and size 18. I am pretty comfortable with grading between sizes, but since I have to chose between two size bands, I am wondering what you recommend for this pattern.
Hello! If you email our in-house seamstress with your key measurements, she can recommend the best size for you.
Is this pattern also available for purchase as a digital download?
I'm sorry our premium patterns are only available in paper format.
Is this a princess seamed dress? Does that pattern have bust width on it somewhere? Is it princess seamed? It looks like it might be because of the panel, but then there are darts as well. Where do they fall? I am generally an E cup, so is this based on a B or C cup? Wondering how much adjusting I will have to do.
Hello, this dress is not princess seamed, instead there are side panels which help form the shape of the bodice and skirt. If you are an E cup, generally you will need to do a full bust adjustment. Our premium patterns are drafted for a B-cup up to size 16 and the 18-24 are drafted for a D-cup. If you would like any more assistance please email us directly and we will put you in touch with our in house seamstress.
Will this ever be sized up to 28?
At this time, we are not adding additional sizes to existing patterns.
I bought the Nico Pattern and it's been a nightmare pattern for me because the Bust Darts are literally under my arms. I've tried 3 times to lower them but it's like a semi-French Dart and has made me want to burn that pattern. I like the look of this dress, but is it going to be another nightmare/waste of material/time over the Darts once again? I don't understand why the darts are always so high! These patterns are not cheap even with the discount because shipping charges negate all that.
Hello, We've heard your feedback from the Nico pattern and developed the Maia pattern to have classic bust darts instead of a french dart (which actually combines waist and bust darts in one). The Maia pattern also includes the lovely side front and back panels which also make adjusting this pattern easy. Simply pinch or add extra room in the panels for your own custom fit. Don't forget the in-house seamstress is available to answer your Premium Pattern questions, including helping with sewing and pattern adjustments.
'what is the yardage requirement for this pattern in a size 16?
Hello, Yardages for all views and all sizes are located in the size guide. You can find this by clicking the 'Size Guide' icon next to the Add To Cart and QTY buttons.

Hi! The free PDF patterns are towards the bottom of this page and the following pages. Starting with the Sara pants pattern. They won't have a price listed under them. Have a great day!
I have so far loved the fabrics so thought I'd try a pattern. I received two of the same size patterns (and was charged for both with shipping). I have sent two emails and left a message and no response. I am NOT happy. The patterns and shipping are not insignificant.
Our apologies for this. We have been having an ongoing issue with our email responses going to SPAM which we are working on resolving. We show a response sent on April 17th. I also show you called in today and one of our team members will be returning your call to resolve this issue with you. Again our apologies.
I purchased this pattern while it was on sale. The fact that it was a bias cut, had darts and looked flattering was all I needed to give it a try. I found tracing the pattern easy since the size lines don't overlap and are clearly marked. I had a piece of bleached C22 linen leftover from another project and cut out the top as a "wearable " muslin. The instructions were easy to follow but didn't mention directional stay stitching until later in construction. I usually stay stitch first so the edges of the garment don't stretch. I found I needed to adjust the shoulder and lower the dart (first time for that!) but after those alterations the top fit. I'm now working on the dress view and look forward to wearing both garments
I think the pattern is well done, but since I am unsure of the size, I will probably make this out of unbleached muslin first. It will be a process, but I don't want to cut into this pattern until I am sure which one fits me.
I fell in love with this pattern as soon as I saw it. I just had to try it . I knew it was going to be a challenge as I'd only done one other bias cut dress before but didn't realize that I had cut it wrong. What a mess! The directions for this pattern were very clear and easy to follow. It came together so easily too. The sizing is also good. It turned out great! Very comfortable and drapes nicely. I used Blue Bonnet signature finish mid-weight. Lots of compliments
Size 12 was perfect except I had to lower bust darts...first time for everything. Had made it first as a top using redbud linen. Fabric from this site. Made it specifically for a tea our circle attends every summer. Will pair with black wide brimmed hat and double strand black beads. My husband was impressed. I have silky multicolored fabric to make another top, sleeveless and with black fabric as in this photo. I copied pattern with pellon pattern paper in case I have to size up or down in the future.
