Bruna Pattern Collection - Short Dress, Long Dress, and Shirt Sewing Pattern (Premium Paper)
Description:
Everyone needs that one dress in their closet that works for a night out or a day at the beach and can do such visual magic with just a change of shoes, some makeup, and accessories.
With Bruna Collection you get 3 such garments!
Comprised of a Long Dress, a Short Dress, and a Shirt, not only do these items feel right at home at any venue, but they also are likely to match everything already in your closet, just adjust the color they are sewn in and your new addition will fit right in.
Once sewn, you get to throw it on in the morning and look like you stepped off the pages of Vogue, no one will ever sense the morning chaos of getting everyone off to school and work. The magical transformation offered by the Bruna Collection is created by the fitted shoulders and the flare towards the hems. A tailored collar and special cuffs with back slits add that couture touch. In this collection, buttons are used not only to hold the garment in place, but also as a stylistic tool: leave the top buttons open under a cozy v-neck sweater for a relaxed and polished look; or, button up under a blazer to head off to your day filled with negotiations and meetings ( be it work or your children). And as usual, the dresses do have pockets!

Customer Questions and Answers
Any idea when the Bruna will go on sale?
Hello Bruna is on our regular sales rotation for patterns. We don't have this pattern on the daily sale schedule for the rest of this year, but keep an eye out for special codes. You can always use your I love Linen code in checkout for 7% off.
Will this pattern ever go on sale??
Yes, this pattern is part of our rotating sale schedule.
How would you suggest removing the bust darts?
The bust darts provide shape for the bust and waist, so removing them while keeping the shape will need to be adjusted on the pattern before sewing. A quick google will bring up a tutorial for this.
I second Patricia's comment about combining size ranges. I don't have confidence about trying your patterns because I span your two size categories.
Thank you for your feedback. We really appreciate this as it will help us make our patterns better for you!
I wish you would combine some of your pattern range sizes, I find I often need one size for the top and another pattern range for the hips, which means a lot of adjusting.
Thank you for your feedback, we will pass this onto our pattern team for consideration.
Hi is there anyway that this pattern can be shipped to the UK folded rather than in a tube to reduce the postage costs? Thanks
Sorry, At the moment we aren't packaging our patterns folded. Thanks for letting us know this is something you are interested in!
It appears that the garment does not have bust darts. Is that correct? I am so short that bust darts are a nightmare for me. Thank you for your kind assistance.
This pattern does have bust darts for all view options.
I removed the sleeves and instead bias bound the armholes from the maxi length, full-button front version of the Bruna Pattern, knowing that it would work for all seasons, here in Los Angeles. The only other modification I needed was to shorten the length for my 5' 4" frame. Instead of adjusting the hem facing, I simply added a deep double-fold hem. Dress patterns are forgiving, coupled with well thought out instructions, great diagrams for each step- it is a piece of cake.
I have been a long-time fan of button-up shirts because of their versatility: short sleeve, long sleeve, long sleeves rolled up halfway, no sleeves! And lately I've noticed half-placket tops floating around the virtual sewing community world, so I decided to try it out with the Bruna Shirt pattern. I love the idea of having the feature of a button placket without actually having to button the entire placket, so this pattern was the perfect one to try out!
Bruna Collection in Autumn Gold Now, I want to embroider the thing! Love the fit. I have not worn a dress for years and am happy, especially with the weight of the faced hem. I dance and am looking forward to making the long-sleeved version to dance in this winter! (I dance tango lead and follow so appreciate the looser bodice). Hope you enjoy the photos...
There were no questions about the instructions: a collar with a stand, a placket; I sewed size 6, did not change absolutely anything and it fit well. The only difference is I just chose a short sleeve (F|S sewed their shirt sample with a 3/4 sleeve, while I wanted to make it shorter to wear in the summer))). Customer support was there to walk me thru making the swap for the shorter sleeve and now the shirt is perfect for hot days. In general, I really like the design, and it sewed together quite easily for me :)
