IL084 Narrow Width 977 Softened - 100% Linen Fabric - Heavy (7.1 oz/yd2) - 1.00 Yard, Width 19"
This is a 19" wide twin to the 4C22 Rustic linen line.
Woven out of the same size thread and with the same thread density this IL084 is just woven to be narrow. That means less cutting time for you and you can get to the fun part of using your linen items sooner.
At a heavier weight of 7.1 ounces a square yard this 100% linen is referred to as Rustic due to its more textured look and feel. Durable and perfect for projects that require just a bit more substance.
Yarn Dyed fabrics are made using threads that are dyed separately before being woven. This allows for a larger variety of patterns and designs that stand out from the base fabric color. Design created exclusively for F|S.
Narrow width cloth is great for:
- Shopping bags
- Purses
- Placemats
- Runners
- Decorative pillows
- Kitchen towels
- Appliance covers
- Potholders
- Cushions
The cloth is Softened so we have added a softener to give it a silkier hand. The fabric has not been laundered so shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration (shrinkage depends on fabric weave and laundering method).

Customer Questions and Answers
Please send kitchen towel tutorial, thank you
I have emailed the directions to you , please check your in-box.
Hello...I purchased this for a table runner. Should I prewash? Should I cut off the selvedge or just sew it into my seams? If I do sew it into my seam, is the selvedge likely to shrink at a different rate than the rest of the runner when laundered? Thank you! Billie
It is ideal to pre-wash to remove skrinkage, so you can cut and sew your runner with confidence of the finished size. The selvedges are ok to leave on this fabric.
I am going to order another 4 yards of your wonderful linen to make more dish towels. Please send me a copy of the tutorial to see if I need some new ideas.. Thanks. This is the same fabric I have used before and loved it. Thanks

I created an account so I could write a review, but now there's no "submit a review" option showing. Anyway, I'm somewhat disappointed with the fabric. The weave is much coarser than I expected, with a great deal of chaff woven in with the fibers. Thread size is very inconsistent, leading to unevenness in the weave and areas of pilling. Because of the coarse weave, shrinkage was substantial (about 15%) with a warm wash. Unlike other toweling fabric I've gotten, the edges aren't hemmed, just raw selvedge (not shown in the product photos). Which is still noticeable and uneven after a wash. Given the discount price I payed - well, fair enough. But I won't be buying more at full price. And I'd love to find a source for higher quality linen for tea towels. suggestions welcome.
Thank you for your review we appreciate all feedback shared with us.
Why is it so hard to locate the material to these towels? I would love to have the pattern to make theapron that someone made below.i do the search for MLT17 and still cannot find it

Under Fabric Care, you mention pre-washing and using care in mixing colors. Then the last sentence says don't launder again but Dry Clean. Are you saying I have to Dry Clean kitchen towels?
That is in reference to if you are planing to mix (color block) 2 colors that may bleed into each other when sewn together we do not recommend washing them but dry cleaning to make sure there is no cross bleed. The kitchen towels do not need to be dry cleaned.
IL084 Narrow Width 977 Softened - 100% Linen - Heavy (7.1 oz/yd2) I ordered this for a table runner and wanted to make matching napkins with the blue stripes. What exactly is that color that I need to order? Thank you in advance.
Hello, I'm sorry we don't have an exact match for that color, the closest we have in stock is the blue bayou on 4C22

Made this fabric up in kitchen towels and washcloths. A great anniversary one of a kind gift. Easy to work with and love the feel and hand of this linen.
Really happy with this fabric. It has all the beauty - and the quirks - of true linen. Solid without being too dense, this fabric is perfect for the grocery bags I made. People stopped me to ask where I got those cool bags!
This was my first time playing with this material. I love that it worked up so nice. Made Christmas gifts. Will definitely be placing another order because 8 need these in my kitchen.
This fabric may be narrow but it is not the same as the old 18" wide, heavy, 9 oz Russian toweling FS used to sell. At 7 oz, this fabric is a much finer, smoother, softer fabric. I bought this to make a set of napkins for a Christmas gift. The shrinkage is about the same as the old (about 17% on the weft and 28% on the warp). I cut 23" with a 1/2" double turned hem top and bottom, and I just turned and stitched the selvage. I got the blue fabric and the color is a bit muddy. I hope eventually, FS can bring the old rustic 9 oz linen back.
The fabric is a titch darker than the picture, but it will do just fine! ... I prefer a medium tone dishcloth so it doesn't look dirty with the first wipe of the hands ... can't afford to buy nice linen dishcloths, but I certainly put a bit of time in and make these for my DILs (going to use a variegated medium blues thread to finish them off) ... love the linen texture
first project with FS linen complete! we desperately needed new kitchen towels, so when the deal recently popped up for the narrow width rustic linen, i jumped on it. i love that you can actually see little pieces of raw flax mixed in the weave. reminds me of when i find little pieces of vm in yarn as i'm knitting. reminds me that there's an imperfect natural process that this fiber goes through. also first time doing mitered corners. not totally perfect, but a great project to practice on. my fiancé thinks the linen won't be as absorbent as our current towels but likes that they'll dry quickly. they're not washed yet, so still a bit stiff and non-absorbent feeling. i think he'll be pleasantly surprised as these soften and get even better feeling and worn in over time. i told him next i'm waiting on the deal on the waffle fabric to make some more absorbent kitchen "drying" towels as well as bath towels!! UPATE: after washing they feel so great and i'm sure will only improve with more washes! and fiancé literally just said to me "These linen towels are actually really great. They pick up so much moisture." BOOM!
