Fabric in the shade of SPICE Linen became billowing plumes of fire in the hands of Flemish master Peter Paul Rubens, bursting out of the darkness like sparks of light. Leader in the Baroque style, Rubens' canvases were charged with emotive, sensual energy and movement, as theatrically staged figures are engulfed in epic swathes of heavy, indulgent fabric.

Blazing shades of red, terracotta and burnt orange were strategically placed for dramatic effect, helping to tell seductive, tragic or terrifying stories by drawing our eye to the center of the action.

At a medium weight of 5.3 ounces this 59 inch wide 100% linen is versatile enough to be referred to as an All Purpose or Do it All linen. With its smooth look and tighter weave, this linen is neither sheer or heavy, but just the right in-between weight you will need for a variety of projects.

The cloth is Softened so we have added a softener to give it a silkier hand. The fabric has not been laundered so shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration (shrinkage depends on fabric weave and laundering method).

Amazing!

This is the most gorgeous color I've seen in a long time. I bought four yards to make an apron dress and when washed it's just amazing. This is quite literally the only place I buy linen. It's PHENOMENAL.

I love the color and hand of this linen. I bought because of the review Joanna gave, and may have to buy some more. The color seems to be one that is great for both warm and cool skin color, and the hand of the fabric is wonderful.

Gorgeous Red Ochre

Photographs cannot do justice to this gorgeous earthy red color. I bought Spice, Sand and Apricot for different projects but they made such a perfect ochre palette - like Australian Aboriginal artwork - that I am going to use them together with off white and black for a quilting project. If I had a wish for this site it would be a section that shows how colors go together in gradation, contrast and harmony. I have loved every color I have bought from this site, but I have always been surprised by the dimension, depth and possibilities. They have never been completely unlike what I expected, but always so much more.

Gurusurya profile image Lovely color!

I had originally wanted IL019 SEDONA Softened Linen and after learning it was sold out I found this color and fell in love! It is a perfect burnt orange/red. I made a top and skirt but could see this color for pants and even a jacket too!

The first thing I noticed about my fabrics-store linen is the punch of color. The color is full of depth and light all of the same time. It is enthralling. Secondly, it is a breeze to sew with: taking steam well and sturdy enough to not warrant excessive pinning. These are all wins in my book! Third, the linen feels simultaneously luxurious and rustic, like you're in a French countryside mansion — a juxtaposition of indulgence and humility. I appreciate how I can wear the linen to all types of affairs! It is truly nothing short of addicting.
