COMPLEXION linen is a rich, fleshy tone, backlit with glowing warmth like the blushing skin of a ripe peach. British painter Lucien Freud infused many of his figurative paintings with this warm pink color, particularly his male subjects, infusing them with a deeply intense, hot flush of life.

At a heavier weight of 7.1 ounces this 100% linen is referred to as Rustic due to its more textured look and feel. Durable and perfect for projects that require just a bit more substance.

The cloth is Softened so we have added a softener to give it a silkier hand. The fabric has not been laundered so shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration (shrinkage depends on fabric weave and laundering method).

Annette profile image LOVE this color.

I'm highly offended. This does NOT match my complexion. Just kidding - ha! It does NOT match my complexion and I'm not offended in the least at the color name. My mom was a natural redhead, and I just keep imagining how beautiful this would be on her. I can wear it beautifully, as well, being brown-headed and somewhat freckled. I'll think of Mom every single time I look at it. I can't wait to make something up. I'm prewashing as we speak, getting ready for spring. :o)

Livia profile image Sigh

It's a very pretty color. I'd rather all of these colors with names suggesting that pink is a default skin color would not do that. It's exclusionary. Lucian Freud didn't have one color for people's complexions - the faces he painted were often disquietingly mottled with 4-5 different masses of color. Many of his portraits had names associated with them - you could call it Hermine or Caroline or Oscar.

Crayola Crayon color name

Crayola Crayons once had a crayon with the color name "Flesh." Things will change as long as we keep talking to one another and not just letting stuff eat at us until we do or say something we regret. "Complexion" color linen may well go the way of "Flesh" colored Crayolas.

Racist? Not!

If I was so inclined, I could call the color name racist because it isn't my redheaded very light-complected color. So I am also left out of identifying with this color as my own. However, this color is exactly right for a redhead to wear so I will be making a beautiful blouse out of it. People are so stirred up by the current environment that every word is suspect. Focus on the fabric and imagine what you can make with it. It's a neutral color which could be worn by most people, and if you're into making sheets, think of waking up wrapped in this warm color. Focus on the quality of this product and be aware that lesser quality linen is being sold for $20 - $40 a yard online.

jumping to conclusions....

how uneducated and small minded of people to jump immediately to the conclusion that this color is racist. i am sure that was not the intent, why would it be? what would this company have to benefit from doing this? i find that people who immediately react to something of this nature often have those very issues within themselves. this is also racist, to say those kinds of things where they were not intended. the political correctness of this country is veering off into the land of the absurd.
