Is this pattern cut on the bias?

Christine • January 6, 2024

Hello, no the skirt panels are not cut on the bias, but the triangular shaped panels of the skirt, mean the side seams are all on a bias and have a lovely swishy drape. For more details, please feel free to download the free pattern.

Are there anymore detailed descriptions for instructions available for this pattern? Specifically with step 3 - just looking for more clarification about how the pieces fit together and when/how to attach lining ( assumign this is why it asked for 2 of each skirt piece to be cut)

Hello, this pattern only has instructions located inside the .pdf booklet. The skirt does not have a lining, and there is a diagram on page 7 in the booklet showing how each skirt panel is arranged.

I love the idea of this pattern, but there are not a lot of reviews or photos of a finished skirt. I am only 5"3 and that would be a big adjustment in length and very severe line blending. I am hesitant to commit my 5 yards of beautiful 5.3 crimson linen to this pattern. I might be more tempted to sew the tried and tested Julia Tiered skirt instead.

Hello, This patterns has been tried and tested by many of our customers of various heights, but unfortunately none of them have seemed to have shared their photos with us. I would highly recommend sewing a trial in some inexpensive fabric to perfect your adjustments and try on the skirt prior to cutting into your beautiful linen.

I am only 5.3" how much will I have to shorten this pattern?

Cecelia • April 2, 2023
Lauren profile image F|S Team

Hello, It will depend on your desired finished length. We advise measuring the pattern in your size, and completing a shortening adjustment to what suits you best and the shoes you'll most often pair with this skirt.

I need to shorten this pattern by about 4 inches - any suggestions on where to take out this length without losing the beautiful shape?

Perfect. Thanks Lauren!

You can make a 'lengthen and shorten line' approximately 6-8 inches from the hem of the skirt. Overlap your pattern pieces as needed and re-blend your seam lines to maintain the lovely shape of the skirt.

I've tried to download this pattern multiple times, but only the instructions are in the download. I am using the most recent version of Adobe, there just aren't any pattern pieces.

Copyshop version?

I would love to send this pattern to a copyshop to be printed at size - I can't seem to find a copyshop version of the pattern in the PDF, am I missing something? Thank you kindly!

Great question! At this time our free PDF patterns are only available in tiled letter/A4 format to print at home on a normal desktop printer. We are hoping to also convert some of these patterns to paper format for those who are not fond of printing & taping. :) Most of our free patterns do not take very many pages... usually about 15 minutes to assemble.

LIESEL profile image Missing pieces?

I printed and pieced this pattern but looking at the cutting layout I can't help think there are a couple of pieces missing to this skirt, panel A and C. I would love to make this skirt but further instructions on how to get these pieces would be helpful. Thanks!
