I have made the Cameron dress with 3/4 sleeves and it is lovely in Heron linen. I am now cutting out a 2nd dress in Natural Rustic linen. I plan the cuffed short sleeve, but have found that I cut off the cuffed part of the sleeve pattern. Any suggestions how I can reconstruct that cuff part of the sleeve pattern? Brooke Robson

Sizing Issue...

I made the cameron top and was disappointed to find that it was far too big for me. Hence I invested more expense with international shipping & bought the smallest pattern. When I compared the two different patterns there was not really any difference in size. I've wasted my money.

BEWARE IF YOU LIVE ANYWHERE OTHER THAN THE US - VERY EXPENSIVE

I'm afraid I have to give this item a big fat ZERO score, not because of the actual pattern but because of the dreadful customer service I have received. First of all, I have waited a long time to receive my package, even though I am in Canada, and I still have not received it over two weeks after I ordered it. I completed the customer service form on the website and submitted it but did not receive a response. I had to chase up FedEx to find where my package was and arrange to have it delivered. Second, I scheduled a telephone consult with Lauren from Fabric-Store.com, in response to an email she sent me, regarding any advice I required on completing the garment. No phone call was received at the schedule time, nor at all. Considering I spent nearly CD $100 on one pattern, shipping being double the prince of the actual pattern, I would not order anything at all from the company again. BEWARE if you live anywhere other than the US.

We are showing one inquiry to our customer service department requesting us to correct the address that was submitted at the time the order was placed. On October 30th the address was corrected and updated as requested. We received a confirmation that you received this information and I will send you an update on the FedEx tracking information which is showing several delays due to the address change as well as weather which is an issue with FedEx. I do not show another communique asking for further status after the initial contact on 10/30. Unfortunately I do not show an inquiry for Lauren, who always responds within 24-48 hours.

A new favorite

I made the long sleeve top using the mid weight IL019 Bleached signature linen, as several others who posted their work did, and I am so pleased with the results. I followed the instruction booklet and online tutorials from The Thread and I had no issues with the neck placket except that I will shorten the length of the neckline the next time I make it. I will also shorten the back length a bit because at my height (5'5") the back top-length was almost tunic length. It is a lovely, flowing top that will be a summer staple.

The neckline is my nemesis!

I never could get the neck placket smooth - finally cur it off and added a thrid gusset, this time to the neckline, and embellished it with a motif from some lovely ribbon i had. Otherwise, the pattern lies beautifully - Better than any other full pullover dress pattern i have (And i have quite a few!)

I'm sorry you had trouble with the neckline placket. You may find our tutorial on our blog helpful for when you sew your next Cameron, Here is the link: blog.fabrics-store.com/2020/06/11/fs-cameron-top-pattern-sewalong-part-2-sew-the-neck-placket/

I really like this blouse except for the neckline.

I made it as the instructions said to but I don't like the little tab flapping loose and the Vee is too low to suit me. I showed it to my brother in law who is a costumer for the studios in Hollywood and does bespoke clothing as well as Ren Faire on the side. He knows how to sew. He didn't like the loose flap either. He suggested taking out the neck and instead making a 1" bias Vee which I prefer very much more. However, after all these years, I still HATE ripping out seams!

Thanks for your review, we truly appreciate the feedback on our patterns. We have created a fully photographed tutorial on our blog for this pattern, which will support the illustrated instructions in your Cameron Booklet. The instructions and tutorial Also both show you how to tack down the loose flap on the neckline. In feather IL019, neck placket removed in favor of a third gusset. Drapes beautifully, and no accommodations needed for my larger bust.

This is the Cameraon dress, sleeveless in IL019 linen, hand dyed by me in Periwinkle which breaks in interesting variations of color around the shibori pins dailyhanddyed.com. The photo does not do the dress justice as it seems to have truncated the length, but the color and pattern are good. I found this pattern to be easy after a bit of fussing with the neck detail and the gussets. I like the way it feels on, flowing gently around.

This is the Cameron blouse made with medium weight linen. I love the fit, the pattern was easy to use. The fabric is wonderful, it keeps me warm enough and not too cold at the same time. The fabric drapes very well also.

Suzanne • May 30, 2021

Made size 12, no modifications in IL019 BLEACHED FS Signature Finish. More to come, albeit a size smaller!

Mariann • May 13, 2021

I used medium weight linen, Blue Bonnet color. Pattern was wonderful to use. Next time will make the top, also will make again as a short sleeve shirt.
