I made the long sleeve top using the mid weight IL019 Bleached signature linen, as several others who posted their work did, and I am so pleased with the results. I followed the instruction booklet and online tutorials from The Thread and I had no issues with the neck placket except that I will shorten the length of the neckline the next time I make it. I will also shorten the back length a bit because at my height (5'5") the back top-length was almost tunic length. It is a lovely, flowing top that will be a summer staple.
I never could get the neck placket smooth - finally cur it off and added a thrid gusset, this time to the neckline, and embellished it with a motif from some lovely ribbon i had. Otherwise, the pattern lies beautifully - Better than any other full pullover dress pattern i have (And i have quite a few!)
I'm sorry you had trouble with the neckline placket. You may find our tutorial on our blog helpful for when you sew your next Cameron, Here is the link: blog.fabrics-store.com/2020/06/11/fs-cameron-top-pattern-sewalong-part-2-sew-the-neck-placket/
I made it as the instructions said to but I don't like the little tab flapping loose and the Vee is too low to suit me. I showed it to my brother in law who is a costumer for the studios in Hollywood and does bespoke clothing as well as Ren Faire on the side. He knows how to sew. He didn't like the loose flap either. He suggested taking out the neck and instead making a 1" bias Vee which I prefer very much more. However, after all these years, I still HATE ripping out seams!
Thanks for your review, we truly appreciate the feedback on our patterns. We have created a fully photographed tutorial on our blog for this pattern, which will support the illustrated instructions in your Cameron Booklet. The instructions and tutorial Also both show you how to tack down the loose flap on the neckline. This is the perfect linen shirt style I was looking for. Details and tidy finishing. My first purchased pattern from fabrics-store, I was beyond impressed with details and instructions. I think a touch large for me but my daughter and my friend are both bidding for this shirt after I get one made for me!
This was my first time using one of your patterns, and well worth the money! I goofed a lot having recently resurrected my sewing skills, but between the printed pattern instructions and the online tutorial for Cameron I was able to determine where I messed up and fix it each time. I made the short sleeve dress option in medium weight Blue Bonnet, and the finished dress is very nice. Wore it to the bridal shower! I will definitely make this again as a shirt with short sleeves and the top option.
I love the linen ! Cutting out the paper today ! BUT , your models are beautiful and so tall ! And you don't have any hints on where to shorten for my 5' 2" height ! I'm curving off from the bottom, and re aligning from the bottom, and setting mark for the gusset , I love the gusset idea! G.

I haven't had a chance to use this pattern but I'm sure it will be just as great as other patterns I have purchased.
The Cameron blouse was no exception. Each pattern set ships to your doorstep printed on thick paper, saving time and effort during the cutting process. It comes with many garment options; the Cameron specifically has a dress, blouse, and top with multiple sleeve options. The patterns also include a well-written instruction booklet with beautiful finished product photos and detailed technical sketches. This speeds up the making process and feels like a treat compared to most modern sewing patterns.
The pattern was smooth assembly and sewing. I actually had fun putting it together, I couldn't believe how smooth the process was.
Easy to use
This is the Cameraon dress, sleeveless in IL019 linen, hand dyed by me in Periwinkle which breaks in interesting variations of color around the shibori pins dailyhanddyed.com. The photo does not do the dress justice as it seems to have truncated the length, but the color and pattern are good. I found this pattern to be easy after a bit of fussing with the neck detail and the gussets. I like the way it feels on, flowing gently around.
The simplicity of this design drew me in right away. It looks to be inspired by a timeless button-down white shirt with the pleated back yoke, but a paired down version with a few less components and a feminine touch. Instead of a collar, a tabbed neck-placket. There are no front pockets or button closure, but a slightly oversized, pullover style. The curved hem represents the classic shirt inspiration, while the slit gusset detail adds a unique touch. Those little details can go unnoticed at first glance, but they are often what make or break the functionality of a garment for me.
I knew I wanted the drawn threadwork to be the main feature, while highlighting a few details of the pattern such as the neckline, yoke, and cuffs. With what I had in mind I was able to eliminate a few pattern pieces, cutting only the front, back, yoke, and sleeve pattern pieces. I also cut two strips 2″ wide – the length of my neckline – to replace the existing placket and two strips 7″ wide -the length of the sleeve wrist- for my cuffs.
