Claude Monet was entranced by the polished sheen of water, observing with fascination how it could reflect sky and land on its glossy, undulating surface. The subtle metallic shade of HEATHER Linen allowed him to capture the cool freshness of this rippling water, with patches of lilac-tinged sky and cloud scattered across its constantly shifting surface.
A leader in the French Impressionist school, Monet was driven wild by his obsession with the impossibility of capturing the movement and light of water on a painted surface, writing in his journal, "Once more I have undertaken things which are impossible to do; water with grasses waving in depths… It's wonderful to see but it drives you mad to want to do it."

At a lighter weight of 3.5 ounces this 58 inch wide 100% linen is woven with finer threads to give it a smoother appearance. Referred to as lightweight or handkerchief linen, this fine, but surprisingly sturdy linen brings new meaning to the term "sheer elegance".

The cloth is Softened so we have added a softener to give it a silkier hand. The fabric has not been laundered so shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration (shrinkage depends on fabric weave and laundering method).

So lovely!

I'm using this fabric for an embroidered pillow cover. I've attached a wash-off stabilizer with my pattern and stitching now. Looking forward to the end result!

Lovely

I love the color. It's wonderful to have easy access to such lovely linen. I have a nice collection of several colors, blue being my favorite.

Fabric weight and color are lovely

Two things will be very suitably crafted from my 5 yards of this selection - A long-sleeved button up shirt to wear over light-weight t-shirts or sweaters and handkerchiefs. The weight for the handkerchiefs may seem heavy to most people but the fabric is very soft after laundering and has an excellent absorption quality that can gently dry noses and wipe away tears.

The color is gorgeous. The hand is so soft. Can't wait to make a blouse with it.

While trying to create a quick baby shower gift, I discovered a great use for doggie bag pieces! A striped baby blanket. I'm delighted with how this Heather doggie bag piece sewed up! Probably less sturdy than the other weights I used, but the color and hand made me want to sew more with it!
