Hovering somewhere between green, blue and soft grey, MEADOW linen has a mysterious ambiguity, like misty fog gathering over a salty sea. In French Impressionist Claude Monet's hand, this color was transformed into flickering patches of cold, airy morning light or a smoggy, enveloping haze. The mutable, changeable nature of this color reflected Monet's fascination with the fleeting nature of space and atmosphere.

At a medium weight of 5.3 ounces this 58 inch wide 100% linen is versatile enough to be referred to as an All Purpose or Do it All linen. With its smooth look and tighter weave, this linen is neither sheer or heavy, but just the right in-between weight you will need for a variety of projects.

The cloth is Softened so we have added a softener to give it a silkier hand. The fabric has not been laundered so shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration (shrinkage depends on fabric weave and laundering method).

I want to make a very light summer bedspread or bed cover of linen. Might this fabric work?

Yes, this fabric will work for this application.

Is this a grey-green or would it look good with one of the greys? I've got a lot of grey linen for a monochromatic wardrobe of basic pants, skirts, and jackets - but now I'm looking for a couple of colors to add interest to the basics.

Grey is a lovely base that looks great with most colors. This particular color is a light blue green which leans more strongly in color that most 'light colors'. Personally I think this would look fabulous with our darker greys like Asphalt. If you would like to see his fabric in person before committing to your yardage, please order a sample.

Hi - Two questions 1. what is the double rub rate for the All-Purpose Linen IL019 fabric? 2. is this fabric a realistic choice for recovering a sofa? Thank you!

Bill • August 26, 2023

Hello, our fabrics are not designed especially for upholstery, so we do not have rub-rate information on it.

Does this come in the rustic weight? I didn't see it today but thought I had in the past.

I love Deborah's cap sleeve top with pleats. Wonder if she is willing to share the pattern or is it an original creation?

Beautiful Fabric

This fabric is a beautiful shade of pale green. I've made a dress for a wedding and a top with the leftovers. It has been just lovely to work with.

Soft summer dress.

Sews beautifully, soft after pre wash before sewing. My dress isn't quite done yet, but it is elven inspired and incorporates a fitted underbust with modest back lacing.

Finally Linen I Love

I love the look of linen but have found it hard to find a source with the look and feel I want. I need search no longer! I saw this advertised on Instagram and knew I had to try it. It's perfect! My first order included the canvas stripe for a table runner and placemats for my daughters anniversary. When I opened my package I was stunned at the high quality, both look and feel if the fabric. It was lovely to work with. The set turned out beautiful! I also wanted to make a top for myself out of the medium weight fabric so that was in the order too. I'm not a great photographer but the top turned out lovely and the fabric feels wonderful! I look forward to adding many pieces to my wardrobe and making a lot of linens for gifts! I'm very happy to have discovered you and look forward to returning again and again!

Perfect, soothing spa green

I ordered to make a queen sized duvet cover. In my daughter's favorite blue. It is a soft, pale blue green and matches well with items currently described as spa green. It doesn't have too much green and has a little grey which makes it a restful color. I've found that the linens named Sphinx and lagoon are in the same color range. We were very pleased with the results.

Just wonderful pillow cases!

I made several pillow cases and shams (using the free-download pattern) and my whole family loves them. The fabric feels wonderful on your skin, and they are very attractive. I'm a beginner sewer, but these they look professionally made! I even think sleeping on linen has helped clear up my teen's acne, which is an added bonus I did not expect. Beautiful color, although more blueish than the greenish/blue I anticipated.

So pretty

This is a very pretty color that is more green than blue. It isn't aqua, but does look slightly different in different lights. It is a great weight and easy to sew.

I stumbled on this site looking for linen to remake our Altar linens. I have found soooo much more. Your confounded emails are testing my scant will power and have me investigating colors I would not have put in my cart. Purchased this lovely fabric based on one such email, intended to et 3 yards but accidentally purchased just one. There are such routine and incredible sales offered that I assessed that if loved it, I could order more. I do and I will. A beautiful soft slightly bluey green--the reviewer who said sea grass got it right. It perfectly captures the sea color off the Dingle coast in Ireland. Plan to make a summer top and then comeback for more!

To say that Fabrics Store linen is addicting is an understatement. I bought 3 times and was ready to buy another 5 yard batch when I made a commitment to myself to actually sew something first! I bought this Meadow color to use to make the Duster pattern for me as well as my daughter, sister and niece. I added a few inches of length to make it a little below my mid calf and had to shorten the sleeves a bit but sleeves for me are always long. I'm 5'2" I absolutely love it! Thinking of making more for me since they can have so many uses. I'm also an artist and think it could be a great cover up for painting. The color is beautiful. Looks green when you hold it against blue and blue when you hold it against green so a soft and muted aqua.

Meadow is a sea foam green similar to Tourmaline. I used it to make the New Look 6601 blouse.

I block-printed a flower design on this beautiful Meadow linen runner I sewed with a mitered hem. The color, drape, and softness of the fabric makes a lovely and very functional table runner. nancyenloe.com/shop/patchwork-flowers-runner

What kind of paint or ink did you use to do your block printing? It is beautiful.

Thank you! I use Speedball Fabric Screen Printing Ink. It’s water based and after heat setting, it’s very colorfast.

I used this fabric to make a dress to wear to my sisters wedding. It was the perfect shade of pale green to match her color theme which was based on succulent plants. I used an ivory lace for the sleeves and as an overlay at the waistband.

If you have a little fabric stash and need gifts that you're sure people will enjoy and use, consider making beautifully constructed kitchen towels or tea towels with the most lovely mitered corner. It's easy and I will show you how. If you want another color and don't have it on hand, you probably have time to order it quickly. One yard can make up to four tea towels.
