A finer quality 5.3 ounce medium weight 58 inch wide 100% linen that is woven with finer threads, and an increased thread count. The higher thread count makes 1C64 shrink less and gives this linen a very smooth and luxurious look and feel, earning it the moniker "luxury linen".

The cloth is Softened so we have added a softener to give it a silkier hand. The fabric has not been laundered so shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration (shrinkage depends on fabric weave and laundering method).

Yes, you can use this fabric or our IL019 medium weight with the FS signature finish is also a buttery soft fabric perfect for babies. If you're interested in our cottons, you may like our percales and muslin fabrics.

Would this be drapey enough for a caftan to wear in an island setting?

Is this your best linen for embroidery, especially cross-stitch?

Terry • August 27, 2023

This fabric is designed for embroidery, specifically drawn threadwork. This can work for cross stitch, but please pay attention to the thread count as this fabric is much finer than traditional cross stitch fabric.

I am interested in the 1C64 optic white linen for altar cloths - I see a few other customers recommend it as well :) How do the cuts come when you order? I would need two lengths of 8 yards. Would they come as separate cuts (2yds, 6yds, 1yd, etc.) to equal the total, or will I receive one continuous piece?

Stephanie • August 21, 2023

Hello, your fabric will always come as one continuous piece of the yardage you have ordered.

I just signed up and like to order Optic White Linen. We were going to order IL019 -All purpose, after searching further we did find 1C64 Luxury Optic White linen and after reading the reviews, the latter may be the better choice for making church vestments and altar linens. What is the difference between these two linens? Thank you for your advice in this.

The 1C64 linen has a smoother hand and an even weave structure, giving it a more luxurious and refined look. In comparison, the IL019 has the traditional linen texture and weave from single ply threads of subtly varied widths.

Could I use this color and weight for loose summer pull-on pants? I have used this weight in other colors and the fabric has been excellent. I would like to have a white pair, but I am concerned about it being too see-through.

Susan • June 12, 2023

Hello, all white linen fabrics can be a little see through to varying degrees due to the colors and nature of the fabric. The levels of opacity in this fabric and our 4C22 are the ones which our customers usually find to be the most opaque and suitable for pants. Of course, this will vary depending on personal taste, so it is always a good idea to get a sample.

transparent

I can't say I was impressed with this linen. I found it to be very thin and almost transparent. I had to line the altar cloth I made to make it somewhat opaque

Angel Dresses

Bought this for hand piecing Angel Dresses, lovely feel to it - easy to handle..think i would like it a little softer-a false petticoat underneath solved the problem- embellished with with fine lace. Currently making a Bonnet to go with it... these little dresses are donated - thought it best to be anonymous, sorry so no photo graph

Great product for church linens!

I washed this material twice in hot water and put it in the dryer. I wanted to make sure I attained all the shrinkage possible before preparing the linens for church. My only comment is that I wish it was a little \\\"whiter\\\" than it is. It has a beautiful finish, drapes very nicely and is so easy to iron. One more thing I would like to add: I have never had such wonderful and caring service from any company I've ordered material from as I have from Fabric-Store.com. They truly go above and beyond when you need help or have questions. The reason for the \"4\" is due to the color I had hoped would be whiter.

Beautiful

Lovely linen to use for Communion cloths. It irons out smoothly, takes machine embroidery beautifully, and I'll be ordering more for another set of cloths. Thank you for your advice on using this linen for this purpose.

Optic white 1C64 used to make curtains. Drape nicely.

A very nice alternative to Belgian linen for making altar linens, especially if the parish budget is somewhat limited. Sews up beautifully and while I offer this as 'second best' (see budget comment)it is a very, very good second best indeed! Shown is a handmade altar linen set with a couple of lavender sachets on the side. Ilona
