Based on the extremely high quality of the gray linen of this type that I recently purchased on sale (which is now discontinued), I purchased a bolt today to make either a set of sheets for my king sized bed or else a whole cloth linen quilt...Just cannot decide what to make, but I know I MUST have this fabric!! SO beautiful and so nicely made! Thank you to Fabrics-Store.com for all the incredible linen fabric, which has totally changed and enriched my life this spring. There is nothing like linen sheets...they are life changing!! The color of this is extremely rich and luscious...it will go wonderfully with my bedroom walls, which are a deep teal Sphinx color! Love love love!!

Janet profile image NOT dull and muddy at all!!
Reviewer: Janet

This is a wonderful and luxurious gorgeous NEUTRAL color, it is not muddy at all...."Anonymous" below does not know what they are talking about!! I appreciate this color and the wide variety of uses it has in many things. The color goes with lots of other colors but is lovely and refined on it's own. Love this one! Don't listen to old "Anonymous" ..they are just very ignorant.....

Rebecca profile image Very Nice

Tightly woven (opaque), fine even warp and weft with a few minor slubs, a good crisp shirt weight, but would add a thin lining for skirt/dress/pants. Color is cool brown leaning to grey, I would say closest to Munsell 10YR2/2 or 2.5Y2/2. For the paint-familiar, I'd use Raw Umber cut with a small bit of white to approximate. It is very very neutral in effect, not an ugly color, but disappearingly dull; perfect for a 1680's Quaker petticoat. This 1c64 grade fabric would also make a wonderfulI outer layer for a pair of stays.I haven't sewn or washed it yet, so I can't comment about its performance there...

Fabrcis-store buyer profile image Dull muddy colour

Lovely linen as always but this colour is very dull and muddy-looking. Substantially more grey than the screen swatch suggests. Not sure how to use it because of the colour. Probably on-sell someone in sca who wants low-class colours that won't look aweful after traipsing through mud during a rainy camp. Buy a sample for this one.

The Carob is like the picture, a lovely tone between brown and gray. The "luxury" linen is indeed luxurious: smooth and stable. There was very little shrinkage and fiber loss from washing and drying. This is now my favorite linen for garments.
