Darkness pervades Tacita Dean's artworks, falling over craggy rocks and epic mountains into inky, bottomless wells. BLACK Linen shares Dean's endless black, a colour that intensifies mystery and drama, cloaking and concealing everything it touches.

At 4.3 ounces this 51% Linen/49 % Cotton blend brings together all of the things you love about linen, and the easy care of cotton, making this, a perfect pairing of two great fibers.

The cloth is Softened so we have added a softener to give it a silkier hand. The fabric has not been laundered so shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration (shrinkage depends on fabric weave and laundering method).

Most of my wardrobe is made from 100% linen, so I was interested in trying this as a less expensive alternative for daily wear. I made a pair of pants and a tunic from the IS003. When I laid out the fabric, it was more stable to pin and cut. The stability meant that it was also easier to sew seams and topstitch hems. However, the cotton content \"weighs\" the fabric down. It doesn't feel as light on the body as pure linen, and is more suited to styles without much fullness. I would still recommend using it for styles that keep its properties in mind.

Black linen and cotton blend

Our community had a Pioneer Days event and I needed to make a skirt and Garibaldi blouses. The linen was the right weight and looked good everyday. The blouse was machine embroidered and the linen was so easy to work with. I would highly recommend this weight for many uses year around.
