This is a 19" wide canvas weight cloth.

Woven out of thick, short staple, linen thread - this fabric is made to scrunch up after the wash and dry. It shrinks about 18% on the weft of the fabric ( widthwise) and 16% of the warp of the fabric ( lengthwise). This gives it the needed density for home textiles.

At a canvas weight of 9.1 ounces a square yard this 100% linen is a fabulous utilitarian fabric that you will love for its simple rustic beauty and strength. Items made from this fabric will wear like iron and last decades.

Yarn Dyed fabrics are made using threads that are dyed separately before being woven. This allows for a large variety of patterns and designs that stand out from the base fabric color.

Narrow width cloth is great for:

  • Shopping bags
  • Purses
  • Placemats
  • Runners
  • Decorative pillows
  • Kitchen towels
  • Appliance covers
  • Potholders
  • Cushions

easy project for a beginner!

I made three towels from three yards of fabric. Love the weight of it. (The selvedge makes finishing these as towels especially easy) I plan to do a little embroidery on these and gift them for Christmas.

Heavy duty.

Haven't used it yet but will be making table runners and back drapes for the patio furniture. Looking forward to trying it

Not the best for dishtowels but

I originally bought this to make dishtowels, but my head dishwasher didn't like them because even after being washed a dozen times, they were too crumpled, coarse and hard for him to use. However, they make great exfoliating washcloths, mitts and back scrubbers! All the great qualities of linen--absorbent, fast-drying--plus the coarseness of this fabric are perfect for this!

Beautiful for kitchen wares.

After the double wash in the sink with hot water and later dry tumbling on medium and hanging to relax the fabric; got nice material for making dish towels. The selvage its solid enough to only make a fold on fold sewing at the ends. Very happy with the fabric.

I bought several doggie bags of this linen and before washing cut towels 31 inches long. I used a bit of selvedge and made loops to hang the towels on kitchen cabinet knobs. Turned the selvedge edge under once and double turned the hems on the short ends, then washed. Finished dimensions 17.25 by 25 inches.

I had some small scraps and made up some shower mitts! These are gently exfoliating without being too rough on the skin. I made a few more as Easter Gifts! There is a tutorial available in the FS Facebook sewing group

And here is a view of the back!

I made an apron for the garden! This fabric makes it easy to just cut and sew a few lengths together. This features a cross back with no tie-up needed. Email FS for a copy of the sewing tutorial

I made these for a wedding present and love the way they look!
