The hazy, lilac blue of WISTERIA linen seeped into the artworks of the late 19th century Symbolist era, casting diffused light that suggests the silent land of dreams. French painter Edouard Vuillard was part of this group; his quiet, intimate scenes were often cast with heather, blue and lavender tones, lending them a hushed air of poetic mystery.

At a medium weight of 5.3 ounces this 59 inch wide 100% linen is versatile enough to be referred to as an All Purpose or Do it All linen. With its smooth look and tighter weave, this linen is neither sheer or heavy, but just the right in-between weight you will need for a variety of projects.

The cloth is Softened so we have added a softener to give it a silkier hand. The fabric has not been laundered so shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration (shrinkage depends on fabric weave and laundering method).

Is this fabric suitable for pants? I wonder if the linen will get baggy with wear. I do not intend to iron my garment.

Claudia • May 27, 2023

All linen fabric will eventually bag out in the knees with extended wear unless the pant leg is very loose and not constricting. Washing and steaming regularly will encourage the fabric to return to its unstretched position.

Should i launder this linen before I sew for a tablecloth. (IL019).

We always recommend pre-washing fabric prior to sewing to remove any shrinkage. This will help you cut the right length for your tablecloth and prevent any surprise shrinkage after sewing and washing.

The most beautiful color!

This linen is a wonderful weight and "feel" for a tunic top to wear with jeans or leggings. It has a very nice drape. I like "crisp looking" linen but not a crisp feel. I do iron my linens but I don't spray starch them because I like the softness of this linen. Washes wonderfully -- I seem to be buying way too many pieces of linen these days...can't resist the temptation.

Love the color

I saw this color, on sale, and went looking for a pattern....found one...will sew it up using pattern V1312. The color and fabric are wonderful. Fabric Store is my go to place for linen. I am never disappointed.

Quality has gone down

I have 6 yards of this I ordered a few years ago and I have to say that the new fabric I received is much poorer quality. Placed the 2 yardages side by side and there is just no comparison. The new yardage is much thinner and doesn't have as nice a hand and finish after washing. This is the first time I've been disappointed by a purchase from fabrics-store.com.

Wisteria

I received this beautiful fabric in record time. Planning to use for myself for Easter, 2022. Texture and weight are perfect for then. Will be looking for the perfect pattern before I touch it with the scissors. May need help getting matching lining fabric. Can hardly wait!

LOVE this color

This is my third (maybe more?) time purchasing this fabric. I started out making myself a dress, then my daughter wanted a skirt in this color, Now my husband and I agreed on this fabric for our new duvet cover. I am looking forward to sewing this for our new bed. I plan to pair it with optic white on pillow shams.

Zadie jumpsuit from Paper Theory patterns. I used ILO19 softened in Wisteria. Added a packet of the fabric softener to the wash before sewing and wow! What a difference in the feel of the fabric.

It took me a long time to decide what to make up from three yards of this lovely periwinkle blue, one of my favorite colors and one of the best for my complexion. The F-S Val Backless Maxi Dress is perfect for it. The weight and drape of this linen is just so comfortable for warm spring and hot summer days. I'm wearing this to a garden party soon.

Love this Wisteria linen. Came quickly, I washed & dried hot several times to de-lint. Just have to keep it straight with itself when you sew. Love this linen. All the weights.

I slightly modified the Faye pattern: reduced the width of the sleeves, added hemstitching to sleeves; added on-seam pockets (just because!) and decided it look too plain, so changed up the patch pockets just for fun. This fabric is wonderful - the color is true to what you see in the photos and is so easy to work with (once you've determined the true grain).
