Natural is the earth made, not dyed, color of the flax plant once it is made into thread. No dyes, no bleach. The only thing that impacts the color of the cloth from one production to the next ( if it is more beige or grey) is the amount of sunshine and rain that particular flax harvest had.
At a medium weight of 5.3 ounces this 59 inch wide 100% linen is versatile enough to be referred to as an All Purpose or Do it All linen. With its smooth look and tighter weave, this linen is neither sheer or heavy, but just the right in-between weight you will need for a variety of projects.
Our FS Signature Finish was developed exclusively for us using a special process that makes this linen super soft with a comfy, classic look you'll love at first sight.
As a bonus, this process removes almost all of the initial shrinkage, giving you more fabric to get your projects done.
This finish makes the linen as soft as butter. Yep, 100% linen that feels and drapes and sews as no linen you have ever encountered. Because the fabric has been pre-shrunk for you - it will be less than the base cloth width.

Incredibly soft, perfectly neutral
The Signature finish feels and looks already lived in - super soft and fabulous against the skin. If you are sensitive to "scratchy" linen, the Signature treatment (in any color) is definitely worth the extra coins - strongly recommend it!! On the flip side... if you're going for a starched, smooth finish, this one is not for you. I love it for sheets, but might not love it if I were trying to sew a dressy jacket, for example...
I just recieved my order that included 4 yards of the IL019 NATURAL FS Signature Finish, from the moment I pulled it out the bag I was NOT happy at all! It's extremely rough and has a lot of lint that literally was flying off the piece! I read about this technique and assumed by that and the higher price per yard it would be softened... this is NOT THE CASE! It's cut exactly 4 yards so Im NOT washing it again nor placing in the dryer... im planning on returning this item... I previously purchased the IL019 NATURAL which I washed/dried/pressed myself... I'm MUCH happier with it and it was cheaper... the other IL019 signature linens I've purchased have NOT been like this one

I had been wanting a light robe so I upcylcled a kimono I made years ago for the lapels of the robe. I love the result, and this way I can remember Amy and the gift she gave me so many years ago, and create the robe I'd been wanting. The finish on this fabric is perfect for this project. The fabric isn't as wrinkly as the photo description although it does have a lived-in feel.
I haven't had time to utilize this fabric as I'm working on other (linen) sewing projects. I can't wait to get my hands on this one fabic. The color and feel are beautiful, and I can tell it will be as easy to work with as the other 019 weave. I can't decide what to make-- something for ME, I think, because I deserve it! I will let you know how it looks when I finish.
Top sheet in IL019 Signature finish is delightfully soft against the skin, and the Natural color is the perfect neutral. I couldn't be happier with the results. I feel like a queen crawling into these sheets at night. FYI: King sized, deep pocket sheets require 7 yards each. No more tugging and fighting with the hubby for my share! The pillow cases are 4C22 Green.
This linen made beautiful pillowslips that were a hit at my last market! I will be buying more and trying it for clothing next time!

FABRIC CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Please note that some of our darker or more vibrant shades will have some residual dye run off or bleeding. It is important that you launder or treat like colors with like colors so that you do not compromise the integrity of any other colors, fabrics or garments during the launder process.
We also suggest that if you are combining one or more of these types of colors with lighter colors that you pre-wash the linens seperately and once the item is completed do not launder again, but Dry Clean.
