Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema was a dreamy romanticist, painting idealized historical scenes set amongst the marble pillars and iridescent light of ancient Greece.
Cool shades of aqua blue like BLUE BAYOU Linen brought crisp, fresh lightness into his scenes, particularly when combined with the glossy marble architecture of the ancient world. In amongst these tranquil and otherworldly settings ethereal characters dressed in indulgent furs, velvets and silks waft weightlessly like ghosts from the distant past, hinting at fantastical half-told stories.

At a heavier weight of 7.1 ounces this 100% linen is referred to as Rustic due to its more textured look and feel. Durable and perfect for projects that require just a bit more substance.

The cloth is Softened so we have added a softener to give it a silkier hand. The fabric has not been laundered so shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration (shrinkage depends on fabric weave and laundering method).

My cousin is buying this linen so I can attach for her 5 crocheted doilies that our grandmother--made in a long vertical strip. It would really be best if I had slightly more than 2 yards. As it is, 72 inches means I'd have 1" top and bottom". Do you only sell full yards? 2 1/4 yards would be ideal, and 2 1/2 would be fine. 3 would be too much!

I'm sorry we only sell full yards. You can always try your luck at finding smaller cuts in our Doggy Bag remnants.

Leigh profile image Color not as pictured

The feel and weight of the fabric is really lovely, but the color is not an aqua color at all. It's more of a denim-blue. There's not any green in it. It's a disappointment because I like the actual color much less than the pictured color, but the fabric itself is nice.

Another Gorgeous Color!

This is a gorgeous, deep, gray blue shade that is actually more blue in person than the swatch on my monitor. Nice, rustic texture.

Lovely fabric

Color is just as pictured. Beautiful heavier weight linen. Washes beautifully and is very easier to work with. Got an excellent deal while it was on sale and bought 4 yards for a lined fighting coat.

Sophie profile image Beautiful!

A gorgeous dusty blue with soft gray undertones. Reminds me of a hazy dawn and Spanish moss in the oak trees, simply lovely. Too bad it was so difficult to find thread that matched! I wish the Fabric-Store would offer threads dyed to match too.

great for pants

I wanted a new pair of blue jeans, and while the color is a dusty blue, the jeans turned out great and comfortable even in our Texas heat. Washed and dryed the linen 3 times in hot, now it's soft and still has nice body. It only took 2 yards even tho I am 5'5 and wear a size 24.

I created my own pattern and this linen worked beautifully!

There are actually 4 linens pictured here. On the left my dress is made of "Blue Bonnet" (middle weight), which has become my favorite linen dress so far! My husband on the right is wearing a hat made of the "Natural" linen, a shirt made of "Blue Bayou" linen, and his pants are "Ginger"!

Some cafe curtains that I made for our kitchen. It's opaque enough that people outside can't look into our windows, even at night. I love the color, a blue-gray that reminds me of a stormy ocean.

This is the main entrance to my shop, I slipcovered the love seat with the 7.1 oz. NATURAL MIX (softened). I made the curtains using 5.3 oz. TURQUOISE (softened).
